    Hello All,

I came from tube amp to Kemper.

I play heavy rock with lots of gain, due to Strat single coil.

I used a pedalboard, on that pedal board I had the pedals below.

Noise Gate, Wah, Compressor/sustainer, Distortion, Tuner,Buffer, before the amp.

Then, Delay, Reverb, Boost/buff in the loop.

So that's what I tried to replicate with the Kemper Stomps.

So far I have been happy with everything except the sustain I get from the Compressor stomp.

It Compressors but I don't feel the extra sustain, it sort of dies then kicks in, like a little boost.

before I could hit a note and go in sustain easily with my amp, but I am still struggling to get that with the Kemper.

So if you know what I mean and know what can help please let me know?

Plus, I don't have a lot of stomps free, one downside to the Kemper.

I may have to add my Compressor/sustainer to my rig, but then I have to bring a power adaptor.

So far I have used the following stomps.

Gate, Wah, Comp, Dist, (Amp+EQ), EQ, Boost, Delay, Reverb.

I only kick in the gate on lead tones, so my sound doesn't get away from me.

    Cheers.

do any of you use the compressor stomp to get extra sustain?

I use to use the tone press and I am struggling to get that extra sustain.

I am currently use the stomp compressor in slot 2.

    Cheers

    Hey Guys,

Can someone point me in the right direction for the cables.

    USB A to USB B?

    Type 2 or 3?

All I can find are printer cables.

Is that what everyone uses? yes looks like it is.

Also, is there a minimum length that works best?

    Cheers.

Yes, that was the blue screen I got yesterday.

I'm not sure which one it was.

The contact Kemper was on the RM.

    Clearly RM is unstable.

I can't believe it, after all this time away from Kemper.

    RM is not developed properly.

So far for me, it happens almost every time if have used RM.

I don't use it every day, just to check out new amps.

I use the Kemper everyday to fine tune my sounds.

    Very disappointing from Kemper.

    Cheers.

    Hey Guys

I'm using the latest version RM with Mac OS Big Sur.

I have encountered nothing but issues.

    Lock ups, freezes.

    Happens mainly when i'm editing.

Today, I was just trying new Amps in the Rig library.

I got a weird screen saying contact Kemper.

It was on the RM but also on the Kemper.

I didn't screen capture it, as I was freaking out that my Kemper was fried.

So I restarted the Kemper and unplugged the USB and crossed my fingers.

    all was good.

Why am I having so many issues?

    Is it my USB cable?

    Or is it RM?

    Cheers.

    Thanks guys.

So if you make a direct profile.

Then you play live, does that mean if you go into the mixing desk.

I will no have cab in the mix?

So I will then need a merged profile?

    Cheers.

Would be great if Kemper had a manual.

From the Amp - Speaker out speaker in - Speaker Cable?

Then from the DI Through to the speaker Cab - Speaker Cable.

    Just want to be sure.

So the Kemper DI, must automatically adjust and attenuate the signal.

Plus, also have an auto ohm detection.

Again no mention of what is allowed.

    4ohms, 8ohms, 16ohms?

    Cheers.

    Hey Guys,

There is no manual for these.

Just wanted to hear from anyone who owns one.

How does it attenuate? As there are no switches.

Also there is no mention of ohms.

So safe to use for 8 - 16ohms?

All it says it ok up to 500watts.

Want to start making some direct profiles.

If you have any other recommendations, please let me know.

    Hey Guys,

I thought I would post an update.

I have made several profiles of my laney Ironheart 15w Studio.

I now see all the potential variables that can occur.

Move the Mic to left or the right, have it too close or not close enough.

I also ran into clipping issues on the output, not sure why.

    Back to my problem.

I am down to 2 profiles, Marshall and the Laney one I made.

I tweak the laney so it sounds great, I then go the Marshall and it sounds way better.

But the Marshall profile, sounds a bit bright.

I go back to laney and now sounds like I have a blanket on my speaker.

    It's driving me crazy.

So I leave it for day and start the same ritual.

    Any help with this?

    Hey Guys,

Yes, I sold my tube amp ( Mesa Boogie MKV25) to buy the Kemper.

So I have a sound that I am trying to get the Kemper to reproduce.

    Classic Rock Marshall crunch.

I thought it better to stick to Marshall Profiles. As I have played Marshalls for years.

But there are just so many variables.

Yes I turned off the Cab button, :).

I have watched a lot of youtube tutorials, which do help a bit.

I'm just hearing some unwanted frequencies that shouldn't be there.

But I find difficult to pin point which frequencies are causing the issue.

Which is why I have an EQ in the X slot to take or add the missing frequncies.

So yesterday I profiled my backup amp - Laney Ironheart Studio 15 watt.

Hopefully this will help me get my head around, making a profile and then tweaking a profile.

    It turned out pretty good.

Thanks for everyones help and input.

I just need to find my voice with the Kemper.

    Cheers.

    Gezza.

Here is where I see my problem.

I sold my amp, so I have no reference amp.

So I download a profile and hope it's right for me.

Some are dark and some are bright, some are flat, you get the idea.

So you have to tweak, but want are you going to tweak? The EQ right!

How can you match or tweak anything, if you have no real starting point or goal.

I want to achieve the same EQ response as the real amp, for the profile I'm using.

I really wanted a Marshall JVM410hJS played with a Strat played on crunch Red, so I bought some profiles.

They sound nothing like what I had, they sounded thin and sterile, no matter how much I tweaked.

So I might have to borrow my friends amp and profile it.

He has a Victory V30 MK11, which sounds like a Marshall to me.

Then I can match it up to sound exactly the way I play it.

I also want to record it with my RTA to see what the frequencies are doing.

Then when I try a new profile, I know what frequencies to adjust.

Am I missing something, with this?

I mean get the attraction, you have an expensive amp, so you profile it and keep it safe.

You then tweak it against the real thing, save it and off you go.

But for the many of us who have no idea what it's suppose to sound like.

We will tweak this profile aimlessly or until it sounds good to our ears.

Wouldn't life be much easier, if when making the profile, they made a RTA snapshot showing the real amps eq response.

So when we try the Amp, we can get close the real amps EQ.

    Cheers.

    Hey Guys,

    Powered Kemper Rack into a Marshall 1936V - (2 x 12 V30).

    2 Guitars, bass and drums.

So last night I had my first rehearsal.

    I spent 3 weeks tweaking.

Well it did go better than I thought.

Getting the volume right was the 1st issue.

    First the good.

I got the Clean right the first go and it did sound pretty good.

But we play heavy Classic Rock.

So it took me some time to settle in and find my voice.

I felt like my heavy rhythm was a but lost in the room.

I didn't have much time to play around with knobs.

I boosted my solo patch so I could hear myself.

Now to the not so good.

I couldn't hear pick my scape, so I need to EQ some more.

Sustain was not that great, yes I use a compressor.

So also thought I might have has too much bass, which was fighting with the bass player.

I also heard a low feedback on my boosted solos.

What frequencies would push my sound into more of a guitar sound?

I also think it's hard (tweaking) dealing with sound at low volumes, then when you turn up it sounds different.

Plus for the Amps I set the EQ at 0 and used an EQ block with a HPF and LPS.

I was using 80hz and 7500kz for these.

But why set the LPF at 7500hz, when my speaker can only do 5000hz?

I will now zero the EQ in the effects block and play around the the amps EQ.

Any help in fine tuning would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers.

    Hi All,

    I made some adjustments.

First I plugged my Alter Ego pedal in the effects loop of the Kemper.

So I could A/B against the one I had selected and the real thing.

So I ended up on Time 5/16, 30% Mix and 10% repeats.

This gets me to exactly the same as my pedal.

Thanks very much for all the help.

    Cheers.

    Hi All,

Thanks very much for all the help.

I have the Gate 1st in slot A and is turned off, activate by switch on the controller.

    So I have this.

Gate, Wah, Comp, Dist - (Amp/EQ) - EQ, Boost, Delay, Reverb.

Gate is off, Dist is off, Boost is off, they are switched on the controller.

I will try some of your suggestions.

    Cheers.

    Save as you go.

If you set up slot 1, save it before playing with the next slot.

That has happened to me a few times.

So now any changes I make I save before moving on, to the next sound or slot.

    Straight from the amp.

I have a reverb last, it's also set low.

Yesterday I tried my pedalboard versus my Kemper.

I could defiantly hear the repeats getting softer on the real pedal.

TC Electronics Alter Ego, Deluxe memory man setting.

But the Kemper, the delay was repeated at the same volume and them stopped.

My delay was set the same and perhaps that's my problem.

Setting my Kemper the same as the real delay pedal.

Will try to experiment with the mix knob.

    Thanks,

I always run the delay after the amp.

When I turn down the feedback, it does shorten the delay.

But the intensity to my ears sounds the same.

In other words the repeats are not getting softer, its just 2 / 3 repeats.

I have the mix at 50%, 500ms, and 17% feedback.

    Cheers.

    Hey Guys,

looking for some help with my delay sound.
I can't seem to find the delay I need.

I know there are plenty of delays available.

But I just want to be able to control the decay rate, I can only see a feedback control.

So as the delay repeats if gets softer, most of the ones I have tried repeat with the same intensity then stop.

I just need a single delay 500ms with 2 or 3 repeats and the decay to diminish on the repeats.

    Please let me know.
