does it mean that the sound of my rigs with a greensream will change when upgrading to OS 4?
-
Get an unpowered head, you will later have the possibility to upgrade it with a power section if you need it.
FRFR systems are more optimized when power section is within it. So unpowered + active monitor such as the DXR10 is the route I recommend you.
I myself bought a powered unit as it was the only one immediately available at my corner shop. Indeed the only use i had of the power section was for selling my cab (it sounded amazing though).

V8, give matrix gear a chance, they are in the uk
otherwise, as stated above, most companies have a return policy when not satisfied -
Unless you have a truck to move them around - I´d agree with you. I hope it´s just the build of the cab and not the Celestions which are mediocre... I´m very pleased with my Tubethomsen cab.
even with a truck, cause you still have to load/unload
I've read some active CLR test saying it sounds as loud as a 4x12 -

Thanks much Sirius, your OR120 vintage tones are in my very favourites. I'll be very happy to test them all now

Gianfranco, I said FRFR is "optimal" when active. I agree that a good passive cab can do a tremendous job.
I myself initially inquired for a passive FRFR cab as an owner of a power unit, but going through this forum over the pasts months made me move to active (and no more FRFR :D)Freisegler, I recently inquired matrix for a Q12a as it offers active and passive capabilities, matrix answered me that it sounds way better when auto powered than from KPA. anyway what works to you works to you and that's what's important
cheers

V8, if you wanna go cheaper you could find some decent monotoring speakers but they are home and studio applications only.
better let us know how you wanna use your gear but if you wanna use it live/rehearsal conditions the DXR is the cheapest you will find in top quality gear.what I have learned in discussions here is that a powered unit is for playing through a regular cab. you could use a FRFR but that's not originaly intended for. going FRFR requires an active system for optimal use and costs much. if your intention is to use your KPA within a band then you will use a limited number of profiles that you can send through a cab that you like.
if you play through a mixer all the time and don't need monitoring, you can plug your KPA directly to FOH
BTW matrix is about to release the FR10 at £549 & FR12 at £599. check their fb page
HTHEDIT: +1 for not going the DIY route

Mission engineering makes passive cabs with good reviews also

It's always a bad feeling when money is out and you are left without response. I got a confirmation mail from Mirko yesterday evening.
I knew I had to write here to get news from him. That's Murphy's law. I wouldn't have written I wouldn't had any confirmation, that's for sure
now I think it's a big month waiting. I'm so impatient !
-
Ok didn't know. Thanks
fingers crossed -
So payment made 2 days ago and no news from Mirko since. Guess who's starting to feel bad
Gianfranco, some help would be appreciated if you think you could be of any
cheers

Hi Mats
now I understand. You profiled these sounds as if you were recording and they sound really like well-mixed studio sounds, as a CD track indeed. I am sure these are plug and play profiles for recording.Profiling is the capture of a guitar sound. My personal taste is to feel the guitar amp as if I could be aside of it, and that's the profiles I prefer most. But I don't record.. My taste goes to profiles which are not aimed to be recorded as studio sounds but the amp in the room.
when I tried these yesterday, I knew they would be a great rhythm for my looper and me to have fun soloing other profiles over it. That's what I meant for loop recording.
i think we are in line Mats, and I'd definitely consider these very seriously if I had to record something
cheers

Sorry, I think I got lost somewhere - where exactly do we disagree?
-
exactly, the question is legit, his opinion is free while his arguments to support it are lame
-
Sam, you should email Mirko, their website is a pain but Mirko is nice to deal with, you will find his adress on the webite

the asm-12 is now +100€ on th*mann, I hope you have ordered it already.
as far as I am concerned, I just ordered the RS-LG12 praised by Gianfranco, and now it's just pleasure waiting too see how long it will take until Matrix gets back to me on the FR12 cause I'll answer they lost my money
cheers
