Hey all,
So excited to post here, I did not get any electric one since my LP 10+ years ago and it's a special one. Please welcome my steel Telecaster, made from the French luthier Loïc Le Pape. I got it second hand, when I saw it for sale I could not resist as it is years I am envying his guitars and good models rarely pop up. I found this to be a good step to my quest of having a new full custom guitar made from him for my 40s (in 4 years). Loïc gave me information about this guitar he made in December 2015 and advised me to buy it as he remembered this one was a good one, his manufacturing process being well mature at that time. I spent lots of time with him on the phone. He is a true upright and dedicated person; each one of his guitars is a full custom work. Loïc is gaining more excellent reputation each day for his work.
I have to admit this is an excellent guitar. The baseball maple neck along with the steel body creates sooooo many vibrations. It is amazing how much the body vibrates when playing, and harmonics literally squirt out of it. This adds lovely woodiness to the tone, yes woodiness from a steel body!
The pickups are made by Jeremy from SP Custom. He is on the same popularity trend as Loïc and his pickups are pretty famous here is France for being top notch. Again, each unit is a full custom work. The neck is splitable HB/SC and the bridge is a delight.
Lots of roots rock vibes out of this one. And I love how it looks. I think I am going to stick to steel guitars from now.
Check his website http://loiclepapesteelguitars.com/spip.php?rubrique2 and you’ll be gassed for years. I have also found this review, not so many in English for now https://www.theguitarmagazine.…oic-le-pape-steel-junior/
It’s a joy to have a new toy, and another one to post here to tell everyone about it.
Cheers all
and the family pic
hey thanks all for the recommendations. I know how good Matt is and I often play his profiles.
Summer break has been long. No rehearsals for 3 months. I’ve got lots of profiles to test and tweaks to do to get back up to tune. I’ll check these profiles later on for sure. Cheers
Awesome review man, and glad to hear Matt is back in the rock game, lately he’s been too much in the heavy side of things to my taste. If only I was not already drown in profiles, I’d try them instantly.
As well as Red Sound LG-12. Not common but highly praised by those who own it. Mirko is some kind of a good cab luthier
IMO unless you’re touring this is luxurious. Better save for guitars as you already have all amps
Awesome thanks Ingolf
Now I just need the other guitarist to understand he shall leave
Looks like musicians and businessmen can’t live in a single body... good!
You’re probably at the worst place to find someone telling you not to get a Kemper
@ToCi91 that's profiler porn
I have a trainwreck Rocket that I will profile eventually.
please do!
Such a good tip. Cheers
I've recently had satisfying results with a hyper chorus, amount set at 1 and little depth up to taste. fair enough to widen a live sound
I've not heard the mimiq (videos blocked at work) but the chorus is a trick that works
I'm just wondering what a delay before the amp would do here
If it works this is a new world for power trios. Very much looking to reviews. I think I'm gonna stop asking for a KPA looper quantitizer...
I am usually on d'addarios EXL120+. they are 9.5-44
I found them to have a good feel for vintage tones, and they don't get much wear too quick.
Man you have a case for a case. That must be a $$$ case you want to keep safe.
Agreed. I'm not buying shit cables. But time has told me that gear hype is bringing you nowhere.
@ cable nerds. Can you hear the cable impact in a live mix or multi track studio recording with all the processing?
I can be mistaken but I assume that it has an impact for bedroom music
Whatever floats your boat. All the pricey gear will never make anyone a better player.
Best is enemy of good. These guys in the audience don’t get the difference, neither do my band partners and I’m not sure I could.
Dunlop tortex as well, they are everywhere around me: pockets, car, home, guitar case, washing machine. can't tell the width, I swap between the yellow, green and pink ones depending on the mood and what falls under my hand
and... Dunlop nylon 0.6 for acoustic, this I know!
