The music has to be rebellious, not the cables
How cheap are your cables?

I always lose mines during tours and whatnot so I never get those expensive ones but my pet peeve is when I get an intermittently buzzing cable, soldering inside going wrong etc, therefore I never get the very cheap ones either. Lately I've been hanging on to my George Ls and those Planet Waves "American Stage" for an unusually long period of time. I like them rather short if the gig allows and with 90 degree connectors.
As far as home studio/interface, I take very cheap ones but as short as possible.

I buy a big length of this stuff and a bag of Neutrik plugs and just make up what I need.
As some others have said “capacitance is capacitance” (I know nobody actually said it like that but that’s the gist) it doesn’t care what kind of oxygen free gold plated snakeoil it uses it’s still capacitance the rolls off high end. As a previous post also said; some folks like the highs rolled off, others prefer the brightest signal they can get. Nothing wrong with either. Carlos Santana had the “sweet switch” in his early PRS to simulate the effect of the long high capacitance cable he used to use and so e folks still us massive old skool curly cable because of the amount of high end they roll off. Its not necessarily quality related just personal taste - as long as the cables are robust and well shielded.
The only other thing I have to add is I have also found Fender cables to be unrelieable but maybe I’ve just been unlucky.

Jeez, I use shitty cables.

Used to be called snakeoil sales, then psyco-babble, psychologists call it Confirmation Bias which is why any reliable listening test requires a placebo group.

You're right that it's just capacitance. Once you knock that top end off you don't get it back downstream.
The whole oxygen free, boutique thing is silly.

Recently, there was a parents’ “work weekend” at my kids’ school. All the parents got a job to do, be it painting a shabby cupboard or mounting and installing a new projector. My job was to go through the snake pit of a box full of cables in the music room, test them all, then resolder any duds. Took me all day, and 90% of those that needed resoldering were Fender branded. Really shoddily made. Sorry, AJ

Haha, sounds like quite the day.
Any recommendations for cables that I can easily find in a store guys? Maybe those Planet Waves ones? Ibanez? Warwick? Dimarzio?

Of the ones you mentioned AJ, I've found PW very-good... and pricey.

Been using Spectraflex for almost two decades. I've needed to buy a replacement 2 times.

I spend more money on my cables than woman..does that answer your Q ?
MXR cables (TRS) in both kempers, 5 mission pedals (4 on kemper one, one on kemper 2)
2 stereo mission cabs. I use the mission cable for the stereo signal on the mission cabs.
high end guitar cable. To me i have never seen the point of getting any thing musical that is not high end.
Thats why ill never buy a cheap guitar. To me its worth it.why buy an expensive kemper/guitar and neglect your cables?
makes now senseAsh

Whatever floats your boat. All the pricey gear will never make anyone a better player.
Best is enemy of good. These guys in the audience don’t get the difference, neither do my band partners and I’m not sure I could.

Good cables makes a noticeable difference in sound to me, however I do not like to spend much for them thus nowadays I buy the cheap ones. I bought a Quicklock vitamina C cable, that it worked pretty well, expecially when I used to play guitar directly in the audio interface with plugins. I could really feel a change in sound expecially in the lows.
There is an interesting test made by M.Varini where you can download files recorded with different cables so you can listen and compare. Search for AUDIO TEST #27 on YouTube, the video is Italian but you can download the file in the description.

@ cable nerds. Can you hear the cable impact in a live mix or multi track studio recording with all the processing?
I can be mistaken but I assume that it has an impact for bedroom music

In live mostly not ,ok , but in studio any little good thing can make a mix easier. You cannot turn a piece of shit into chocolate, it's better to start from the raw material.
However I'm far from a cable nerd, as I said I used normal cables, we better think to make good music rather than making so many mental blows on the instrumentation.

Agreed. I'm not buying shit cables. But time has told me that gear hype is bringing you nowhere.

Thanks for the vote, Nicky. I'll try out the Planet Waves ones.
@ashtweth, I agree, in this case, seems like a weak link in my signal chain.
@nightlight Be careful with the PW Amercian Stage Cable. They advertise, that the new form of the tip works with any jack. That ist not the case - my dealer took my cables back after he experienced himself in the shop, that the tip does not connect right to some jacks (forgot which ones). Planet Waves Custom Pro have been their best cable, but they are not longer available. God knows why?
I am pretty happy with Cordial cables (Cordial CSI PP-Gold line with flexible CGK 175 cable and neutrik connectors).
