Dunlop Ultex .73 Sharp Point
These are perfect for me. They can still provide snap, but it's a hard material so more glassy than boing.

I think at this point I'm gonna pull back from the ledge and just call it "sometime in the future". I let myself get sucked into the irrational anticipation when they thought they were weeks from release back in June.
Welcome!
I experienced the Fractal arrogance way back when they were just starting out. I emailed to see if they would sell to NZ and they said there's no dealer here so they wouldn't even consider it. Just a short, sharp, dismissive reply. Watching the way they've tried so hard to build obsolescence into their products over the years I'm really glad they fobbed me off and I eventually found the Kemper.
Leo, let me insist again. Please go to page 5 of output and disable the option Space-HeadphOnly. And then try the headphones connected to the Focusrite to see if it improved the tone.
If you already did that I apologize, but I feel that you didn't try it by your reply to Locrain.
If you do that then your recording will have the space effect too, which I don't think is desirable.
Have you definitely got the Cab off on the Kemper when you're just using your 2x12? If not that could be responsible for what you're hearing. I love mine through one, but you're right that it does colour the sound the same for all profiles.
FWIW - I also really like the sound through my Sennheiser HD280 headphones.
I'm doing that on the inside.
I just got a set of EV ZLX-15P and they sound really nice for what they are. They cover the low end without the need for a subwoofer.
I think it's worth trying to find out if there's anywhere you can try out/purchase Renkus-Heinz speakers. They're unbelievable and worth the money. Even if just to train your ears to what the uber pros use.
Presonus for the win!
I get your frustration, but I personally have never been in a situation where USB would be useful, since I use a Firewire connection to my PC. I definitely wouldn't want Kemper to start copying Fractal after all these years.
I'm really happy you got a good result!
Here's the cab. I borrowed the 3D logo from Pauls001 and printed it out to go over the Blackstar logo.
Also make sure that if you're connected up for stereo that your audio interface has the 2 channels panned L/R.
We're just in Sydney for the weekend. I had a work conference and the family flew over. Definitely will PM next time we're headed your way.
Sorry to the admins - I'll keep it on topic from now.
I'm on holiday in Australia, so I'm glad I don't have the distraction. ?
Your Dad is a gentleman and a scholar.
Then crack out the opening riff to Le Freak.
I've learned a lot here. I'm a day job and occasional small gig guy, so my comments are from that perspective. Really appreciate the input from real pros that live this stuff.
It's a business at the end of the day. It's not musicians that demand it. It's their managers and labels.
I get the point of the mono vs stereo thing, but it's hard to imagine what a Pink Floyd concert would sound like with a completely mono mix.
Sabotage of supporting acts is really common. My niece is now a headline artist, but early in her career they used to make her vocals muffled and mess with her guitar volume to prevent her from embarrassing the headliner.
I used to get so pissed off. I confronted a sound guy once and he shrugged and said I'm just doing my job with a look that said it all.
