    Look at it this way:

    If there's an option to select "on" or "off" on-screen for a parameter or indeed a numeric value, MIDI gear typically sends a representation of this as an absolute value.


    If the option is a toggle, as is the case with locking, the fact that you've pressed a toggle button is all that would be sent via MIDI; the effect this would have is dependent entirely upon what the previous lock status was for a given slot / module.


    IOW, echoing the command back via MIDI is like hitting that toggle button a 2nd time, and we all know what happens if you hit a toggle button twice - nothing.
