Is there a way to find out how many rigs I have on my KPA?
except counting!Create a backup file and look up the number of files inside the backup on your PC.
-
thx!
-
I was wondering the same!! by the way r.u.serious -your profiles ROCK man!!
-
When you install total commander on your pc, you can look into the backup files. You can also copy the names into memory and paste them into a document to print it. Very helpful to get an overview.

... what an amazing piece of software! (TC I mean) I couldn't do without by now. Never spent better money for the value on a PC.
When you select all the files in a folder or even a compressed file, the number of the files appears on the footer. You can also perform "selective" selection (for example, all the profiles starting with a certain string or having a certain string in the filename), invert selection and do several sorts of filename editing (including the automatic substitution of any character or string with another. "&" comes to mind!)

Is there any app like Total Commander for Mac?
-
Sorry almogaver, not a Mac expert
I'm sure someone will chime in. What I'm sure about, TC is for Win only (suffice to say, its original name was Windows Commander. Until MS forced Ghisler to give it up LOL)
This is the official page. BTW, I believe he's German

A rig is about 4KiB, the speed heavily depends on the quality of your USB stick and on the overall number of files on it.

You should get a new usb stick with higher writing speeds. I have over 800 rigs on my stick and the backup doesnt take even one minute...

That's right, backup is that quick for me as well.
However what I think he was talking about is doing an export of all rigs. I have to second that this takes incredibly long on my KPA as well.Cheers,

Davide, is this the time for a backup or for export of all rigs? -
Should be the time of a backup.
Exporting all rigs takes several minutes at 700+ rigs -
Davide, is this the time for a backup or for export of all rigs?Backup, why should I export? I can extract what I need from the backup file.

to make things clear: I exported all my rigs. that took more than 30 minutes. Much too long for 800 small files. I´ll get a new USB stick, the one I use is indeed not the latest model....
creating a kpabackup-file is fast here, too. less than a minute.
But I´m afraid I don´t get it how to extract something from the kpabackup file with TC. All I get to see is a endless list with cryptic code.
How do you do it? -

Good question. However r_u_sirius was complaining about the time it takes to export all rigs. That's why I thought posting the time it takes you guys for a backup was comparing apples to oranges.Cheers,

How do you do it?Ok, i get your problem. Just use an up to date version of total commander and double click on your backup file. Then the Subfolders within the file will be visible. I think you tried to extract the files like from the zip file without entering it first.

Ok, I got it now!
TC opend the kpabackup file with the editor programm. I forced windows to use WinRAR for kapbackup-files. now I can see the subfolders!
many thanks!!!!But it works in Windows Explorer, too - so what´s the benefits of TC again?
