is the Kabinet a good choice for the bedroom guitarist or still better with Studio monitors?

good for a bedroom rocker, or Studio Monitors still a better option?
-
congratulations I bet it was exciting when it arrived!
Now after making so many enquiries about what I must use for home use output, looks like maybe this could be considered?
Hope you enjoy your new toy buddy

just had an email to say Kabinet is now available folks

Maybe the 1st generation 6i6 had S/PDIF problems, the newer generation ones definitely don't.
Ahh right that makes sense, I think what I read previously was something like spdf made little or no difference, again I dont know enough to qualify that
Thanks for your reply

Simply put, if you play the Kemper through a nice 4x12 cabinet, every profile you select will still sound like that 4x12. If you play through a monitor, it will sound like whatever cabinet was used when the profile was made. This gives you a MUCH wider range of possible sounds.
thanks for the info mate this is reinforcing the rest of the great advice I've been getting here, thanks

Excellent! Let us know how you get on!!
Thanks, just gonna see if I can get to a store to have a listen

I've gotten the unpowered Kemper and do not regret it. I play mostly through headphones at home and IEMs at gigs though.
Thanks Jag

Only sometimes
?
The Focusrite 2i2 and the 4i4, don't have separate headphone power, they run off USB power.
Get the 6i6 instead, it comes with S/PDIF RCA for the Kemper, and a separate power supply, for better headphone volume.
thanks mate for the info will do, I mentioned 4i4 only because I had read somewhere that the spdif didnt work very well on the 6i6 but no idea myself

1 instrument cable + 2 x XLR is enough to get started. If you plan to reamp or record both DI and wet signal you'll need more cables to route signal back from your Focusrite to KPA.
Recording DI would require additional instrument cable.
That being said: Focusrite 414 doesn't have a lot of inputs / output so I'd encourage you to look at the Kemper manual and make sure that all scenarios you're going to use are covered in convenient way (without dancing with cables all the time). Even if you're not reamping now - you might in the future. Capturing DI is pretty much standard recording procedure.
thanks Buddy, that's even more great advice, thankyou very much again

So I would love to thank you all for your very kind advice this week it's been really useful to me as it's quite difficult sometimes to get proper advice from a store.
I have decided on my setup.
Kemper unpowered head
A pair of Yamaha HS8 active speakers and stands for stereo.
Focusrite 414
I think the Yamaha speakers come with cables, please can I ask what other cables are required, as the last thing I want is to get the toys delivered and not be able to use them
Plus anything else you think I may need.
Reminds me of when I was a kid and someone would buy me a present and forgot the batteries
Thanks again,
CSC

ouch! That sounds like what our old engineer used to call a “hostile sound environment” ?
Haha.....yep sure does mate
-
how safe are 2nd hand kemper toasters unpowered and remotes?
-
But in my expericence bedrooms are typically not so bad for this.
pretty much the whole of one wall is taken up with sliding wardrobe door (glass) no bed just computer desk
4 meters long room, x 3 metres to glass wardrobe doors and room also has glass french doors at one end, so really we are effectively looking at a room with 2 walls of glass......not a room for having an arguement with the Mrs in
Music sounds really good in this room to my ears.
I think almost everyone I speak to suggests studio Monitors one reason is stereo.

It is always best to seek forgiveness than ask permission ?
Haha love it!!!

thanks for your info, I think my wife would slaughter me if I did all of this to my man cave/ bedroom but I fully understand what you are saying though and also understand the importance of accoustics
-
thanks mate, all sounds really logical.
I think I will now sit back and review all the great advice you have all kindly offered me. I really do value your help and experience.
I think the fantastic way you have all freely offered your help is exemplary and never was there any finger wagging or smugness, so apparent on other forums. For that I thank each and everyone of you. I'm genuinely appreciative.
Cheers for now

Couple of comments from me:
Personally for bedroom playing, better to tune the sound to a consistent output, e.g. studio monitors or whatever. I don;t think a cab will give you much else at lower volumes in my opinion.
This is going to sound nuts but...also consider this is a top piece of kit, massive rungs above the Katana...if you are not using it for recording much or gigging then perhaps a HX stomp might be good enough. Not trying to talk you out of it as I think the Kemper has the best sounds but...I would definitely consider whether you need the remote? To me its a gig tool primarily or if you are doing a lot of switching in a recording session... Perhaps consider the stage...
I'm saying this so you can save the pennies and get another guitar
...and welcome to the gang!
Thanks V8 Really appreciate your good honest answer,I really value everyone's opinion on here, I can see you really do all know what you're talking about.
The last thing I want to do is make an investment of this size for it to be completely opposite to what I thought it was. This I guess is partially what causes people to just give up.
Thanks again

Keep in mind that low volume is never that pleasing to the ear. I use headphones to get that "onstage with Pink Floyd" feeling at decent, but not damaging levels without bugging the neighbours or my family.
Thankyou, Yes I fully agree this might be the way I need to do this at times whilst still having monitors when I feel more bold ,:-)
