Hi !
Has anyone using a Mac been able to use Rig Manager ? What program are you using ?

I'm using the Rig Manager on Windows 8 running in VirtualBox, a free virtual machine, on a MacBookPro.

That's beautiful!

One of the things I think Fishman's doing right is that they're keeping the magnetic pull of their pickups similar to that of those that they're modeling. For the more traditional pickup tone and dynamics that they seem to be after that might be important. Piezo hex pickups probably wouldn't accommodate that.
Brian
Well, the idea of using a perfectly flat signal from a neutral sounding pickup and then using active filtering in the preamp for miclup modeling is rather old. The Variax guitars did something similar but with piezos. I only wish that would have thought a little further. Using piezo bridges with indivdual hex pickups would have allowed for far greater flexibility. Put a six channel A/D converter into the preamp and transfer the signal digitally to a standarized and SPDIF compatible breakout box. This would even allow MIDI converters to use that signal.
Perhaps this would be a new project for CK
Hey
I just recorded a gypsy jazz tune with a hollowbody
It might not be the traditional jazz tone, but I like it : )
Beautiful playing and tone!
Hi,
Thanks, Richard for the compliment and Tone for the interest!
I don't yet have anything online of me using these profiles but I did a couple of the user demos on Armin's site using some of his profiles also I have a sound cloud page, https://soundcloud.com/ba_hill. Right now most of what I have up there are improvisations from a band I'm in, mostly fusion and groove oriented stuff. The tracks aren't particularly guitar focused but what guitar there is is recorded straight from the Kemper SPDIF out.
Brian
I may be misunderstanding your description of what's happening but it sounds like the wah is operating as designed. If you choose "bypass at toe" the wah will be active unless there is a pedal connected and that pedal is in the toe position. I think that when the FCB1010 is not connected there's no way for the KPA to know that the pedal is in the toe position.
Brian
Wow!!! Thanks guys!

I use for clean jazz guitar tones, both with a solidbody guitar and with a hollowbody. It's great with both!
Here's a short clip I did with the solidbody, a PRS DGT. This tone is brighter than the typical jazz guitar but the KPA does that just as well.

Thanks for these! The cleans are great!!! but I also didn't find #9 and #10 to be drive as stated in the doc. The gain on both of those is at 0.
Brian
These sound great! I particularly like the DA profile. Both of them have great dynamics. If you have another chance to profile this amp could you do it with some mixed combinations of the HX and DA switches?
Thanks.
Also check your MIDI cables. They might be the problem.
Brian
Thanks! I will download and try them today.
Brian
I'd love some HX/DA profiles. I heard David Grissom demo one and I'd probably own one now if I were still buying tube amps.
Thanks!
Brian
I really like the Armin's Plexi packs. I bought both of them and made a demo clip with the Greenback one when he offered 2 free profile packs for anyone making a clip he could use for a pack. I spent all this evening having a great time with the Bogner Goldfinger pack - one of the packs I received for one of the demo clips I did. It's great - one of the most versatile set of profiles that I've ever heard! It has some of the sweetest cleans as well as plenty of gain for anything that I play. Here are a couple of quick clips I did tonight.

I have a demo I'd like to submit. How do I get it to you?
Thanks,

Here's an experiment to try if you've got some time. Set one of your tube amps to the settings you use on a gig or at rehearsal. Set the Kemper to a rig you would like to use at a gig/rehearsal. Turn the volume on your tube amp to match the volume at which you're listening to the KPA and then compare tones. If you have a similar experience to mine you'll find that the tone that you liked on the KPA has more high and and more low end (and probably more gain if you're using an overdriven tone) than the tube amp does. If you EQ the KPA (or find a profile) to roughly match the frequency response and gain of the tube amp you may find that it sits better in your live mix. It may sound a little dull at low volume, though.

I haven't done a lot of profiles but I like the ones I made with a ribbon mic the best. I used a cheap MXL R144 but there are lots of choices for ribbons in all price ranges. Ribbon mics tend to have a very natural sounding midrange but a LOT of proximity effect and can be very bottom heavy if you're not careful.
Thanks a bunch for these! I haven't tried all of them yet but so far my favorite is the Gain 5 on the low input with the i5 mic.

I just tried putting a Green Scream in Slot A and turning its volume to +5. It definitely increased, not decreased, the rig's overall volume. I'm at home so I can't try this at gig volume but at a reasonable indoor level I am unable to reproduce what you're experiencing. I'm running my KPA into a Yamaha DXR10.
I, too, doubt that it could be a powered monitor problem but to eliminate that possibility have you tried running your KPA into something else instead of your monitor(s)? Maybe you could record directly from the output of the KPA.
It's possible that only a particular combination of stomps/effects that shows the problem. I tried the Green Scream into a mid gain amp with no other stomps or effects. Do you experience the problem with a simple setup like that as well?
