I installed the last firmware (3.0.0.10856 release) and i try to import 5 merged profiles (4 mesa mk3 and 1 engl powerball from Thumas) i downloaded from RE but i press import, it seems that profiles are being imported but at the end i get the message "No import necessary. All Rigs are already available" but they aren't. Any ideas? I use a usb stick that used to work perfect with fw 2.7.4 and below, and i formated it with the last firmware.

I opened a threat on this here:
    http://www.kemper-amps.com/for…-the-new-merged-profiles/?

I use the Thomann case for Kemper and the bottom part serves as a socket for the Kemper, that keeps it from moving and uses foam to catch off vibrations. PLUS it doesn't look so tiny anymore on the 4x12 cab ;)

I also did 3 slave out profiles for those who wants to use with a poweramp or the powered kemper.

Slave out is preamp out, isn't it? Expecting a guitar power amp, right? How is a preamp profile supposed to work with a powered Kemper? The power amp inside the Kemper is not a guitar amp. Important chararcteristics in the signal chain would be missing. As far as i know there are to ways to use a powered Kemper:

    A) Kemper(studio profile/merged profile) -> neutral class D power amp -> FR cab
    B) Kemper(direct amp profile) -> neutral class D power amp -> guitar cab

Direct profiles are profiled preamps and only work in this combination:

    C) Kemper(direct profile) -> guitar power amp -> guitar cab

    1a) "merged profile"

    2) "direct amp profile"

There are 5 new "new profiling method" rigs on rig exchange from user "Thumas", uploaded today.
The two profiles with 'clean' in the name loaded without problem, and sound very good, but the other three got ignored by my Kemper (with new FW 3.0). They are on the stick but the Kemper doesn't seem to recognize them. Anyone else with the problem?

FW 3.0 is up and running and working like a charme. No problem there, BUT:

We have a new situation. There are loads of profile types now. Let's see:
    - DI PROFILES: taken from the DI out/loop send of amp tops, right after the preamp, not to be confused with:
    - DIRECT AMP PROFILES taken from the speaker out
    - STUDIO PROFILES taken with microphones
    - MERGED PROFILES in 3 types: with their own cab, or with a cab from another merged profile, or with IR cab
The first two types exist in both pre- and past-new-firmware versions.

So if i count this together i get eight(!) types of profiles and say we need a good tag system for profile names with clear definitions.

For example let's please stop calling direct amp profiles "DI profiles". That tag was used for preamp profiles (from loop send or line level direct out) in the past and using it now for speaker out profiles will only add to the confusion. Type in "DI" on rig exchange and see for yourself.

I'm not sure if this preference is accurate. Many guitarists gravitate towards 12" because they think they will represent their guitar sound best which is nothing but a prejudice of course.
In FRFR land 10" are equally as capable to deliver the goods though.

As i would have a hard time to explain it myself i googled up these words from the GUIDE TO LIVE SOUND SPEAKERS AND AMPS on http://www.ultimate-guitar.com, author is Phil Starr:

Move up to the 15" units and you have a speaker that may be able to cope with the volume of a full rock band, but unless you spend a lot of money you will lose the clarity of a smaller speaker, because neither a horn nor a 15" cover the middle very well.

I tend to agree to this. 12" speakers seem to make more sense for guitar monitoring to me, because the guitar sound lives in the middle frequencies. The original poster wanted to use a Peavey 15" and i referred to that. As always, opinions vary :)

Can you listen to it in person? If it sounds good, it IS good :)

    This!

For consideration: Many people prefer 12" monitors for guitars and vocals. Better mid frequencies and more cut through in live situation. 15" is often a little on the dull and bassy side with less brillance.

As the ISP isn't a poweramp for FRFR but a guitar amp, maybe a guitar cab could be a better match. Guitar power amp with monitor cab is sort of mixing up both worlds.

While the reasons in the first post are the same as mine i have one more: Cost reduction.

Rent a real expensive studio, create a great sound, take it home and record for weeks in that studio without beeing there, that's what i plan to do. Also great for amateurs with daytime jobs who can't spent three weeks in a row in a studio.

Well done! In the current official terminology, three of those approaches have names:
    "Full" is a Studio Profile
    "PPAPS" is a Direct Profile
"Full and PPAPS" is a Merged Profile.

The second one will become the main problem, cause there are already many post preamp profiles out there that were called 'Direct Profile' by many in the past. So the post speaker out profiles need a new name in order to avoid confusion with past use. Some already used the name 'Direct AMP profile' for PPAPS and i would support that.
