I'm going to buy a Valvetrain Powertrain, I hope the Kemper Kone will work with it.
Or you can just plug into the effects return of most tube amps. My Kemper plays wonderfully through my Port City Pearl this way

Agreed. I've literally got money burning a hole in my pocket waiting on this.
Well....this...and for when my name comes up on the King of Tone waiting list....
Ha! I put myself on the list in Sep 2017...you?
As for the Kone, it only seems like three of us here are planning on buying it on day 1. I'm not hearing much hype about it anywhere else. Also lots of discussion about other recent FRFR/cab purchases by users here, don't know why anyone would buy anything until this is released and reviewed. Oh well, too bad for them
I'm also wondering why they couldn't release the passive Kabinett at least until now.
Maybe they'll wait until the active Kabinett also is Ready for delivery. Just to get the business of the unpatient Kemper-Users who own a passive Toaster and would invest in an external power-stage.
Software isn't ready. I'm guessing most of the effort is going into the editor right now
Yeah, he's only running through two speakers but if it works, it works. It is possible for the KPA to run at 4 ohms, but it's risky without an internal cooling fan. That's probably why bass players have largely avoided the PowerHead
Aren't you only playing through two speakers when switching to 8ohms on that cabinet? There have been lots of discussions about the internal amp not being loud enough for some players. Check your various volumes, it's easy to miss one, or bring up the mids if your tone is scooped. And you don't need an ohm selector switch on the Kemper, I guess you can say it self selects to whatever you're plugged into.
The wood cab of the Gemini does color the tone, but it shouldn't be that drastically different from headphones. I assume you tried all the output jacks?
How does the Kemper sound through headphones or studio monitors?
Thanks! Any idea what amp the Camplifier uses?
Cheers,
Sorry, I've never had one in my hands...but, people claim they are louder than their specs suggest
Camplifier does not use ICEpower amps
Powered Kemper: ICEpower 250asx2 (4ohms n/a ; 500w @ 8ohms)
Power Stage 700: ICEpower 700asc2 (700w x2 @ 4ohms ; 350w x 2 @ 8ohms)
Power Stage 170: ICEpower 50asx2 (170w @ 4 ohms ; 100w @ 8ohms)
Any thoughts on how well a Thiele cab will work with the Kemper cone? I currently have one loaded with an EVM12L.
Everything is pure speculation at this point. But, the concept is the Kone will produce guitar speaker frequencies and the cab will naturally fill in the rest. So, if you have a ported cab like the Tiele, expect some deeper tones coming from it. I wouldn't change yours out though, a 12L in a Thiele is fantastic as is. I did see Kemper is including the 12L in the software, you could compare the two!
Interesting. Why did you choose this cab? Is it by any manufacturer? What are the specs?
It's a tweed 1x12 ext from Mojotone, just put in a G12-65 and it sounds very nice with the Kemper. For cleans and edge of breakup, FRFR just doesn't cut it for me, I still prefer a real open back cab for those. Finger's crossed hoping the Kone will deliver
Just got the cab I intend to use with the upcoming speaker. I'm hoping for some sweet, vintage speaker models to use in this tweed. Please, no replies saying I'll be waiting a long time or other speculative nonsense...I have plenty of speakers to throw in here to enjoy while I wait for the KKone.
I'm thinking the post and poll was meant as a joke.
I prefer the MSP5 over HS5, but I may be in the minority there
The thing that concerns me is the software supporting the Kemper Kone probably won't be released until the Kemper Kab is available. I'd really like to play around with that, even without a Kemper Kone driver or speaker.
The easiest way to integrate a power amp to a cab would be an ICEPower plate amp. I'm not aware of any ICEPower plate amps at this time, but would be a bit surprised if they aren't available.
This is the one I'm using for my Kemper. Right now I have it in a home-made backbox which fits in the Kemper back opening, but I'll consider permanently installing it into a cabinet, depends on how I like the Kone
I'm thinking about two 1x12 cabs. A pine, open back tweed cab and an OS closed back
Congrats on ditching the other brand and finally realizing tone is what truly matters. Welcome to the forum too, sounds like you'll fit right in
Display MoreHello ElDoca,
This issue has been discussed. The primary reasons for the special Celestion speaker in question to be "full range" is because Christoph Kemper specifically uses the term "broadband" in the Andertons video. Furthermore, there is this statement from Gear News:
Whenever you switch to a full range sound, for an acoustic guitar the Kemper Kone will switch to Full range Mode automatically for you. Music that is fed into the Profiler through the Aux Input will also be played back in Full range Mode.
Cheers,
John
Christoph says "broadband" everyone else is saying "full range" which is the point I was trying to make. It might be best to take FRFR out of the vocabulary for this product.
I don't understand why people are so focused on the FRFR aspects. It doesn't need to be full range, the Celestion speaker in question only needs to produce guitar range frequencies. The real wood guitar cabinet provides the rest of the spectrum. Wouldn't surprise me at all if some of the background DSP will be high and low cut EQing to eliminate those frequencies that don't occur with a guitar speaker.
Just turn off the stack section. But those preamps are going to sound pretty stale without a tube power amp (real or simulated). You can try feeding those preamps into a clean profile, probably will be a lot of trial and error.
