Just picked up a Waves DEQ with a RTA. Will be interesting to see if the results end up being really similar to the ducked EQ.

Thank you for that feedback! I sincerely appreciate it.
I wonder if I should try a different mic to go with the e906.
I use to use a Demeter ISO box with the tandem of an E906 and a SM57. Maybe a bit of redundancy but it worked well.

You’re welcome
Little update: Checked last night, early this AM, and again mid-day, (with the gain @ +6 and the Q maxed) and the nasty boy was right around 3.02K every time. Best compromise fix that removed the peak parts of the 'glassy' artifacts without really doing much at all to the tone or feel of the rig:
Studio EQ
LG: -4.0 @ 80 Hz
HG: flat
M1 Gain: -3.6
M1F: 3017.7 (I've decided ultra fine adjusting would be a nice! )
M1Q: 5.0
M2: flat
LC and HC: off
Duck: -1.6
Global Space: 2.4
PC on the rig cab: 2.0 (down from about 6.0 without the EQ)
Gracias de nuevo!

I'll check them out too.
EDIT: Nice. Much cleaner tone than I'm use to but it sounded sweet and the profile was clean (no noise or clipping).
Would love to try a few more that had the amp dialed up a bit hotter.

Been absorbing a bunch of knowledge from this place recently. Thanks again to everyone! Here's a quick chart that shows how non-linear the relationship between Q, frequency, and bandwidth is as folks here have been explaining.
A Q setting of 0.2 at 100 hertz creates the same "bell" bandwidth as a Q setting of 5.0 at 2500 hertz. (hmmm, picture was uploaded to imgur and then I pasted the link - what's wrong?)

You can use the Ducking parameter (positive or negative value) with EQ.
*BOOM*
Thanks!

Super useful in mixing and mastering but I would love to place one right after the amp stack to possibly help in smoothing out some of the upper frequency harsh spikes you can get on higher gain rigs due to close mic issues during the initial profiling. You might be able to get by with much less pure cab in some cases.
Has this ever been brought up? I tried a search but couldn't find anything.

Curtesy of Mr. Britt I have profiles of both the first amp I ever used to jam with a drummer (Sears Silvertone) and the amp I used when I was gigging in the late70s-early 80s (Lab Series L5). Such a trip down memory lane!

I play a lot with pretty saturated profiles and for certain ones PC has been a life saver. The difference between a profile being a keeper or getting dumped in the trash in many cases - PC takes the edge off a lot of those "glassy" artifacts you can get when digging in. I don't remove it all since it's a big part of the tone. Just enough to keep it from being overbearing.
One thing that also helps with this, and I stumbled across this by accident, is to add a small amount of 'space' to the rig (+2.0 in most cases) prior to adjusting the PC setting. I have zero data to back this up - just my ears. Tried it with 3 different pretty hot profiles from 3 different sources and got the same results each time. Also found that adding this amount globally doesn't seem to impact anything negatively which makes it easy.

You also could save the combination of the two effects in their respective slots as a "Stomps" preset.
Just did this with slots B+C with both A+D blank to be filled with whatever works best for any given rig. Thanks.
Also, don't forget, you can assign both B+C (in this case) to a single stomp button on the remote.

THANK YOU!!!!! The Trower 535Q patch is now my #1 go to for wah. It's 100% perfect for me.

I picked up an Empress EQ to put in the loop in slot X. I want to be able to quickly identify any problems areas in the high end (a number of my hi gain rigs get a bit glassy at times) and fix them with a narrow Q and then roll off the lows and tweak the mids as necessary. This is mainly because of what Lok said - Kemper's UI for comps are cumbersome and not adept at quick adjustments on the fly. With the Empress I'll be able to adjust everything with my eyes closed.
-
Once you figure out what kind of EQ tweaks are needed for your setup, you'll be hard pressed to find anything better (IMO).
I've found that nearly every consumer profile needs a small amount of tweaking of the EQ to work right with my monitor setup.

Could always slap a good comp pedal in the loop.

The Tube Driver is baked into the profile, but I ended up adding the Fuzz DS pedal to it as well. I'd just mess around with different profiles and try adding a fuzz and see where you end up.
That Hawk profile is working fine for me. No locking up. Sound killer too! I added the DSFuzz stomp right in front of the "DSHW stomp" - see the 'getting the most out of your OD post in this section' - and it works great. I think the first impulse with this rig is to take the blanket off of the speaker cabinet (it's a pretty wooly tone) by increasing the definition or adjusting EQ. I found it's best to just leave it alone. It's a killer preset. And not just for Johnson stuff. Thanks!

Pretty sure the answer is yes, actually don.
Just lock the second stomp the same way you did the first. Done!
Damn. Sometimes you can't see the forest because a stupid tree gets in the way.....

Thank you! I've been using a Michael Britt Twin profile as my grail for a while now and thought I'd nailed a good OD tone with the stomp combo of a Treble Boost into a Green Scream. This works SO SO much better and really nails THAT classic overdriven Twin tone I wasn't getting.
Pretty sure the answer is no but is there a way to lock two stomp modules together globally? This would be a perfect use of that feature.
-
Why not just increase the compression a little within the amp module instead?
-
I'd like to have both a chorus and univibe assign to one switch. I'm able to do it and switch between the two but is there any way to turn both of them off?

I'm having great results using the tube screamer model. Having owned both a Maxon 808 and modded Ibanez TS9 I think the Kemper TS nails it.
