If you haven't already swapped it, this sounds like a cable issue to me.

Wow, I can see this is a very useful forum for information.
Wow, I can see you're really patient and friendly new forum member.
Good luck.

I'll take 5 immediately.

I know because I did the same thing. ?

Just making sure the "plumbing" is right. There are two USB ports on the Kemper. For RM you need to use the square one. Is that the one you're connected to? It's like an old printer cable.

"Dave's not here man." ?
Welcome to the world of Kemper! ?
-
I use mine with headphones often and I love the sound. I think you're good to go.
One problem - it's not teal. ?
-
If you know either of the engineers personally you could get them to set your parametric EQ and save that as a preset?

I really like having the amp and the remote as separate things, for the size, not needing power at the front of the stage, and keeping the delicate digital hardware better protected and cooled.
I also like the ability to just drive a cab with the power amp in a jam or small venue situation.
-
When I was still using my Bogner my logical chain was:
Guitar---->Kemper Stomps----Kemper Loop Send---->Amp----Amp Loop Send---->Kemper Loop Return---- Kemper Effects---- Kemper Monitor Out----> Amp Loop Return---- Amp Power Amp
I didn't bother for long.

Does the Kemper hear the individual characteristics between my different guitars? Can I hear a difference when I adjust pickup heights like I can with my tube amp?
F: Most definitely. Just as per tube amps.
I have some guitars with excellent wiring that makes them useful even with guitar volume turned down to like 2-3. Can the Kemper react like a tube amp in this situation?
F: As above. ?
I have read the FRFR cabs don't give the "room feel " that running a Kemper thru a regular cab does. Am I compromising what the Kemper can do if I run it thru my existing 1x12 cabs? I get that somehow when a rig is profiled the Kemper software can decipher what the cab is bringing to the profile, but are there rigs out there that are made especially for those who use their own cabs ?
F: A real guitar cab sounds the same across all profiles, so a profile of a Fender Princeton and a Marshall will sound more similar than they do through FRFR, which sounds more like the original amp's speakers. I prefer good headphones for playing and recording at home, so I don't have to worry about anybody getting blasted.
I have read that Bass/Treble/ mids/ gain controls are less effective than with a tube amp. Basically the profile is what it is for the most part.
F: Not less effective, just not like the original amp. When you buy a profile pack there are usually several profiles of the same amp with different settings. There are many ways to tweak the EQ and characteristics of the amp to taste.
I am not super picky about effects but do have a nice board with a Boss ES8 switcher. As long as I can have the basic range of options for adjusting reverb, delay, chorus, and dirt pedals I am okay with using what is on board the Kemper. I do have a CatalinBread Zero Point Flanger I love, as well as a wah. With the ES8 I can change the pedal order, can the Kemper do that as well? For instance one rig with a dirt box before a delay instead of the other way around? Does the Kemper play well with a pedal board?
F: It reacts to pedals just like the profiled amp. You can change the order of effects and the effects are top quality for a unit with so many effects. In my opinion it's still nicer sounding to have some dedicated effects like Electro Harmonix level quality or Bogner Lindhurst compressor, real Tube Screamer, etc, but I've gone back to using no extra effects and I'm really happy.
I think most people here would recommend them. I really love mine.

Completely easy. Just need a proper speaker cable with a TS phone plug to take the powered signal to your cab. A guitar cable will fry with high volume speaker current going through it.
Need to make sure the Master volume isn't linked also, so you can control your stage volume without affecting the PA mix.

If the amp is already distorted then a distortion pedal sometimes makes it sound muddy and less distinct. I'd keep it in the Stomp section and mess with the settings of the OD and amp (probably less gain on the amp) until you get what you're after.
I think introducing an OD in the Effects section isn't very usual because it's after the preamp, but your ears are the best guide.
While I almost always put reverb and delay in the Effects section I also like chorus/phaser/flanger in the Stomps section for some tones due to the way they interact with the preamp stage.

Unfortunately physics still applies; or fortunately if you like gravity. ?
-
Which unit do you use? Are the vents in the unit blocked by anything or is it hotter than usual?
-
I watched that video a few days ago and I agree that for distorted tones heavier strings don't sound better and indeed can sound congested and lack treble bite. It would have been nice if they had 2 of the same guitar so the contrast would be apparent, or used some clean tones.
For clean sounds I only like 9's for funk, reggae, and calypso. For blues/jazz/solo fingerstyle 9's just don't have the girth and snap I'm after, so I use 10-46 as a good compromise.

That's horrible and unforgivable. I can't believe:
a) That the issue is so widespread that at least one person (more, I think) has had more than one faulty unit in a row
b) That they would send out a replacement without testing it due to a)
I hope they have a pretty tight supply agreement with the switch supplier. I can't imagine how much impact this has had on their bottom line and brand perception of quality. Product Managers have nightmares about this sort of thing, as they should.
-
I start in Rig Manager by copying the base rig(s) into the performance and naming the individual slots accordingly. Then I tweak the slots on the Kemper, with a guitar part going in the looper so I have my hands free.

I'm hoping for a global automatic assignment, where the 4 Stomps get automatically assigned to the 4 remote buttons. You'd still be able to change them, but at any point in time run the automatic assignment.
