I originally bought the Bose L1 to use in our band as a vocal PA for three singers. I failed at selling the L1 to the band for vocals.
But... I went to practice early last night. Why?
Well to place the L1 behind me, remove my MBritt FRFR from the situation, and hook the Kemper up to the L1.
What did I get?
Some sameness, and some difference!
Sameness in quality of sound.
Difference in a couple of areas. Both my lead player and I heard even more separation between our two guitars, which is a good thing. I always like that.
Difference in "grunt", as in less of it. I love the chunky, low down grit I can get out of the lower strings with a bit of distortion ala pushing tubes. There was less of it on tap the way I had the Kemper setup for the MBritt (I changed nothing). That surprised me a little. I think I'd attribute that to the tower, and needing less stage volume because there are speakers at ear level. I kind of thought the B2 would have compensated, but not really. Might need to adjust the profiles accordingly.
I did adjust the EQ on the T1 to bump bass and mids a little. I had the input setup for Line 6 Pod.
Also, I "think" I perceived the projection to the back of the room to be slightly less. Jury's out on that one though. Further testing required.
Overall I enjoyed the experience/experiment, and I have no doubt that I can dial it in better.
The MBritt is a wonder box, and pretty tough to beat. Maybe it's the 1x12 guitar speaker type construction? I'm amazed at the projection and dispersal it has!
I left both the L1 and MBritt there at the studio and will continue testing the L1 for a couple more practices at least.
Who knows... I may end up routing my mic and guitar to it and giving the finger to the house PA.
Oh yeah... I did have to pull the treble back a little as well...
Just thought I'd throw that out there for those curious about Kemper and Bose.
