Do you think the KPA is capable of achieving that cool "horn" type of sound Pat Metheny uses? Love that sound and would enjoy replicating it if it's possible.
Has anybody tried getting anything close?

I seriously doubt it. That's not an effect he's using but the Roland GR-300 guitar synth.

buy Roland GR55.. Kemper + GR55 = music Heaven!
ps: since I have this tandem I am really very very happy!!!

For what it's worth, there's no reason a monophonic synth couldn't be incorporated into the Kemper as an effect. Here's a sample of the synth type tones you can get out of a Boss GT-10. This isn't a special pickup, just 1/4" jack into the GT-10.

What you can get out of a unit like the GR55 is otherwordly...

Bill Ruppert posted a GR-300 sound on the Rig Exchange, but it may not be what you need.
Can you give us a specific song example? I've gotten some synth brass sounds using the effects, so we may be able to help you.

Last year I profiled the Roland VG-99 in the GR-300 mode.
I was able to get a bit of the GR-300 filter sound.
The profile is in download section.
You may have fun playing with it.

I run a VG99 and Kemper in both series and parallel. The VG99 has dual GR300 engines and lots of filters....best of both worlds.
