Don't worry, testing out lowering the knob controlling the distortion sense will not break the profiler!
Just twiddle all the knobs and you'll soon learn what each does.

What CK hinted at above 'did you try it out?' is:
Lowering the distortion sense never will make any difference with the input LED.
Clean sense is your friend.
It's all in the manual.
