Input Clipping on 7 string riffs and Pinch harmonics

hi, i was testing some hi gain profiles i bought and i notice my guitar was clipping sometimes with the 7 string riffs, also with the pinch harmonics, i tried to adjust again my input for that guitar (caparison dellinger 7 stock pick ups) clean sense: -9.2 (still clip sometimes), dist sense: 5.1

i read i have to adjust cleanse with the dist sound volume but i think it's not possible since it still clips at -9, i have to go to -12 , is it ok that my guitar clips with some pinch harmonics on the 7 string?? also i wasnt getting a good feel so i added dist sense to 5,1

You should set your CS to fit the instrument's output, then set the DS to balance clean and distorted sounds' levels.

Thanks, but I think the DS doesn't add volume, just distorsion lvl

What happens if you reduce DS and add a bit of gain from the knob? I'd also put CS where it doesn't clip, and would see how this combination works.

i initially thought the clean sens would have a large impact on distortion tone, but i'm not sure that is the case at all. I've found instead, that almost any perceived clipping I've experienced was output clipping, which was actually occurring when the output led's were barely turning from green to orange, clearly not red. I can also see it in my interface mixer. I keep the levels a bit lower now, and all is good. you don't even have to worry about gain staging; you can just use the volume knob to level your rigs.

but i have clean sens down to -12 db, which i still need to mess with a bit more. i feel like if i turn gain down all the way, i would like clean sens to be down even further to level the tones, at least on the last 2 rigs i tried it on. but i feel like I had also set it higher in the past, and i didn't notice any problems...

oh and changing distortion sens is basically just like a global gain control, used to adjust distortion saturation between instruments.

Wait ! Input Light turning red does not mean clipping anymore with last firmware !
Are you sure you are clipping, i mean : check by ears with a clean profile ?

I hear my guitar fine, but when doing pinch harmonics on the 7th string the input always goes red, wasn't sure if this was ok, I have to go to -12 (limit) for the clean sense not to go red with those harmonics, if I don't to harmonics on the 7th string CS doesn't go red, I guess I will trust my ears like you guys said, I think I will live it at -6

I'd set my CS to where nothing ever clips. From what I've learned and what I read from Eng. Kemper, there's no reason to do otherwise

Set CS so that you balance clean level naturally to distorted. I'm guessing clean is too loud if go into red on the input. No need to touch DS.

i find it strange your pinches are registering so high... for me it's when i dig in with the pick right over my bridge humbucker. palm mutes and open chords are the worst.
