I decided to start using my KPA again and I could use a little help getting going.

  • Hi Everyone,
I just purchased an Atomic CLR wedge and my KPA has come alive.
My questions are how do I make sure that I have the most up to date software?
What's the best way to get profiles?
How to organize them in my KPA?
How to profile my amps and share them?

    Thank you,
    Yossi

  • Ciao :)

I'm sure others will chime in with lots of good advises.
As for me, I'd suggest you to read the manuals and the wiKPA (d/l from my sig.). You can't get satisfaction driving a car if you don't get how to shift gears or to clean the windows (?)

    :D

Your KPA will tell you which firmware version is installed when you boot it up. Make sure it matches the latest version on this page: http://www.kemper-amps.com/pag…mplifier___Downloads.html If not, download the latest version. Open the downloaded .zip file, and there are .pdf instructions for installing it. You will need a spare USB thumbdrive, and the KPA will format it if its the first time you're using it with the KPA. If so, before inserting it into the KPA, be sure to delete any files on it.

"What's the best way to get profiles?"

You can find free profiles from the official Kemper rig exchange http://www.kemper-amps.com/sharerigs . Most people will post their profiles there. The search can act a bit goofy sometimes, but it works good enough to get gobs and gobs of profiles. You can also use programs like DownThemAll to download lots of files at once. Be sure to also check the free and commercial profile sections in this forum. Also visit the commercial profile dealers' webpages. They generally have free profiles in addition to the ones you can purchase. Otherwise, people may post them various places on the web, but I find there are few profiles that you'll find randomly that can't be found in the rig exchange or linked to on this forum.

"How to organize them in my KPA?"

The KPA comes equiped with several methods to filter and order the rigs already loaded in your KPA. Additionally, you can develop your own renaming scheme, so that they are ordered by name in a way you find helpful. For example, maybe rename profiles with a starting 0-9 based on your rating of them. So "0 Profile 1" would be an excellent profile and "9 Profile X" would be an awful one. Or you could rename them according to the amp being profiled. Or the gain level.

Profiling is a simple process - you turn your chickenhead knob to Profiling, hook up your cables properly, and press the button to start the profiling process. Then audition it and if necessary use the refinement process to fine-tune it. See more here: http://www.wikpa.org/Profiling_Tutorials

Once you have saved the profile, it will be among all your other rigs in the KPA. Then you can select it and export it, just like any other rig. See here: http://www.wikpa.org/Rig/Prese…#Exporting_Rigs.2FPresets
