Bad sound through frfr speaker and headphones.

No magic with a CLR? As an acquaintance on Boss GT Central used to remind me (frequently), it's horses for courses. Could just be that you don't like the sound of a miked amp and prefer the tone of a guitar cabinet.

I'm using my Kemper with a pair of Dynaudio monitors and find it super convenient and tonealicious. I understand what you mean by high frequency fizz, but you will hear that even on professional recordings like Lamb of God albums if you listen closely enough. It can be a bit disconcerting, but how you set up your tone makes a lot of difference.

Not too familiar with either the CLR or the Q12... Have you got some frequencies dialled up on them?

The best advice I've seen on this forum in cases like these is:
1. Get into a studio environment, into the control room.
2. have a good amp miked properly.
3. Listen.
4. Profile the amp.
5. Listen again.

That's how the whole history of guitar tone has evolved. Tones that became famous and blueprints for other tones.
If you don't like it, fine. Then you know you have to learn a lesson.

I'm saying this in all honesty.
There are tones out there that I had to LEARN TO LIKE myself.
It's an education thing.

The clip sounds a bit muffled but otherwise like a pretty normal '59 Bassman, which is a bright amp. Do you have the same problem with other profiles?

that's good news. Gladly i did not to have to get used as i've been using IEM for a couple of years now and 'the mic'ed sound' is what i'm accustomed to.

Still you can't fool your ears. You'll always hear differently at low volumes.

Until they add a Fletcher-Munson compensation filter (and no modeler or FX unit has one AFAIK), the only solution is to tweak at the volume at which you will actually be using the KPA.

FM curves are statistic values, plus the effect depends on how much you lower/raise the volume: hard to get an exact compensation. Nothing that can't be achieved with the output EQ anyway

Yes, basically you might save an output setting (eq in your case) for each room/sound level. A FM compensation wouldn't but pull bass and highs up as you lower the overall volume.
