The LEDs arent showing any activity - im usibg an m-audio project mix.

No i mean i have the dry track already recorded which i am then routing to the spdif output for reamping
Open the M-audio mixer . Choose which Software return channel you want to use to send the SPDIF into cubase (turn the corresponding fader UP). Now go back to Cubase, Vst Connections, create an output bus which you are going to use to feed the Kemper and assign to it the software return channel you created in the M-audio mixer.
You seem to have your routing done the right way. In the software mixer, when you play back the DI track, are you getting a signal on the SPDIF channel? Or is the signal on another channel?
