Updating From 3.1 to 5.2: OK or Should be Done Incrementally?

Just returning back to my Kemper, obviously not having done an update in a loooong time.

Is there a sequence I should follow (i.e., 3.1 to 4.0 to 5.2) or is it OK to go directly to the current OS?

I'd really appreciate some informed input.
