This would make my setup a hell of a lot easier, and would preserve the signal integrity, gain unity and less AD/DA conversion in every single record i do in the future. Please oh please i want this feature so very much
SPDIF out Direct Dry Output

Is this something that may be on the cards in future?

I might be missing the obvious here, but I don't understand what you want from the SPDIF that isn't already there? The SPDIF gives me the digital output of the Kemper without any AD/DA conversion and that's pretty much what I want from it. What else could a SPDIF do?
-
I believe beau_Mckee is talking about S/PDIF carrying both the dry signal and the processed signal, for reamping. Is this correct?
An option which has already been discussed/requested and which would actually be COOL -
Most definitely, i hope for this feature immensely! The idea of keeping my DI signal purely digital puts a smile on my face!

... it's ok... you might have missed the magic "dry" word in the OP

HI there.
I do not own a Kemper but I'd like to get one soon.I haven't found an answer yet to the suggestion above, so is there such a feature now, that allows to carry the dry signal via spdif?
Many thanks!
-
yes, with the new firmware you can controll what you want to send to each output seperately
you can even send the dry signal (direct guitar) on one side of the spdif and the full stack with amp, eq and effects on the second spdif channel
-
Gracias!
Many thanks for the quick and me suiting answer -
Read the wiKPA... there's everything in there
-
So can someone please confirm you can now record dry direct guitar signal via spdif as well as a profile on two seperate channels via spdif? and if so, how is this achieved and which firmware is required?
Thanks! -
Confirmed.
You can do this for a while, don't know exactly since when.My Focusrite Saffire 24 carries the dry SPDIF signal on channel 5, wet is 6.
Look up the manual of your Audio interface. -

Look up the manual of your Audio interface.I too was pretty amazed when i tried configuring the SPDIF out because they didn´t announce that great feature. It´s also great that you can save your output configurations and just change them with the browse knob. Saves a lot of time.

Really? Awesome! Thank you. -
i am aware of how to set up SPDIF via the interface, but how do i enable the direct signal from my kemper out spdif as well as the rig tone on the other side?
-
at the moment i am just getting a stereo send via spdif to my interface
-
Nevermind, i figured it out on my own like a big bo! So does the SPDIF record at the optimal gain level? For example, if we now reamp via the recorded spdif signal through SPDIF, it should theoretically sound idnentical or no?
-
I don´t know. I always send the signal to my digital mixer and use the output fader.
-
Sending the "dry" out the spdif has already gone through A/D conversion once it gets there. What you want for an unadulterated signal is to send the dry out the Direct Output, as this passes the analog signal through with no a/d conversion, handy if you have high quality converters. Then when you reamp you could use spdif, thus bypassing Kemper's analog converters if you want.
