Why are certain threads disappearing, then reappearing?

Why are certain threads here disappearing, then reappearing later - very strange (as the theme to 'Twilight Zone' plays softly in the background)

The thread about the weird overtones from the stomp distortions has disappeared at least three times in the last 24 hours for me - although 'life goes on', I would like to know what is causing this...
