I have my Kemper connected to my Scarlett 8i6 via SPIDIF and occasionally it cuts out while I'm playing, like it's too much to handle or something. Does anyone know what my issue might be? Thanks.

In that order:
1. Check cables: Are they true digital? Crosscheck with analog connection.
2. Prevent unnecessary interrupts: Quit all other applications and disable Bluetooth and WiFi/WLAN while recording. Disconnect all other USB devices. Quit third-party background services (DropBox etc).
3. Increase the audio buffer size: Values below 128 are more for pro hardware.
Please let us know what helped in the end.

I would also add that SPDIF connexion is better if the clock is set at SPDIF,
Def increase buffer in your daw if you are getting drops in volume.
If you plug your headphones in the Kemper and get uninterrupted volume, that means the problem is somewhere else in your chain (audio card/driver, DAW, etc.) -
I have tried all of that still with no luck. Here is a screenshot showing that it loses sync and drops out. It drops out even when I am not playing or in the DAW. I have a brand new MacBook, so I wouldn't think the issue would be the sound card. I don't know what else to try.

Can you replicate it by tweaking the plug in the KPA output socket?
I had huge problems like this for a long while.
Turns out that the SPDIF output socket on the KPA wasn't a good connection to my cable and even a small movement of my KPA caused it to drop out. Sometimes it happened and sometimes not.
I ended up pulling the back off the KPA and bending the connector so it really grabbed the plug...problem solved.
If your's is under warranty, might think twice about doing this.

Well, I think I fixed it because it hasn’t done since doing so, but I had to press a button on the Kemper to use its internal clock. I thought just switching it on my Focusrite was all I had to do. It was deceiving though because before I pressed it, it said auto. I didn’t know what it was. Also, is 44.1 kHz the recommended amount to run it at? Not even really sure what it does.

I recommend reading this article on sample rates : https://www.izotope.com/en/lea…0kHz%20to%20be%20recorded.
