If you want to add or delete Rigs, Presets, Snapshots, and Performances the user interface as well as Rig Manager can be limiting in some specific situations. Many users are already aware, that it is possible to unpack Profiler backup archives and manage content on a PC or MAC. If you strictly follow the attached instructions, there is no risk, that you lose any of your precious sounds.

Thanks Burkhard! A Kemper-endorsed technique was needed for the less adventurous among us.
-
thank you for that!

Good one, Burkhard!

How important is it that "the file name is identical with the name of the original backup archive"? Will I do any damage if I give them more personal names? Like: "My_fat_collection.kpabackup" or "Rigs_for_sessions_with_Tony.kpabackup".

thank you so much !!!!

Answering my own question:
In the meantime I took all my courage in both hands and restored a file that I renamed: "Auswahl-1.kpabackup". Nothing exploded, all worked fine and I am happy. -
I followed the instructions and my KPA keeps crashing when I try to restore the backup. Most times it freezes at the "Restore latest backup" screen, but once it started to restore and then crashed.
Any ideas? -

Any ideas?I suggest, you open a support case on our home page. I'll respond and you will be able to attach and send me the suspect backup archive. Then I'll have a look.

Please make sure, that you create a tar archive at the end of the clean up work as documented! Any compressed archive formats like for example 7z archives don't get accepted by the Profiler.

Is this procedure only save for deleting rigs or can we add rigs or stomps this way, too?

I think it's safe to add rigs and stomps this way, but don't do any renaming outside the KPA.

OK
I'm confused, but I'm stupid so that's normal.

Here we go, sorry for the delay, Lance.
Just un-zip it first

Thanks, Davide.
I sorted it out just before I read your post, Burkhard's post #11 was the solution.
When adding to archive I didn't know I had to change from 7z to tar, once I changed the ext to tar, and then to kpabackup, it all worked.Very cool, I'm down to 1100 rigs.

This doesn't work for me I can't extract the backup file at all. It says it cannot open the file as an archive.

Thanx!!!

Thanks! Works like a charm!
