Hello- I don't have a spare PC to use Rig Manager with my new Player. Can I download profiles and rigs to a USB stick and then load them onto the Player somehow using the knobs?

No, you need to use Rig Manager for this.

You don’t need separate PC.
Just don’t plug them in at the same time.
That way it is easy to share rigs via Local Library.

I mean not using a PC at all. Can I get a USB stick loaded with stuff and load it into the Player?

Timo already gave you the answer. Since you need to select the destination for any new rigs Rig Manager is required.
