uh why not? The point of owning the device is to load profiles. I've had the unit since February and download all profiles from the exchange to try out. That's part of the enjoyment of the KPA. Of course, I have favorites, but why shouldn't all the profiles be stored in the unit? Sometimes I'll revisit a profile that didn't sound great and realize with a few tweaks, it sounds really good. Plus, many of the profile bundles come with dozens of profiles per pack. Getting to a 1000 profiles doesn't take a lot of effort.
The point is the firmware shouldn't have issues with the number of profiles or if there is a limit, then Kemper should indicted how many is the max. I prefer not deleting rigs if the next firmware update corrects this issue, since I'm not a computer whiz and don't want to delete something that I'll have trouble putting back.

1.5.1 no problem.
Deleted some rigs to get less than 1000. -
Haven't done the upgrade but plan to tonight. Suggestion to the folks at Kemper. Going forward, write in a hard limit on the number of profiles which can be stored on the unit, let's say 1,000. Prior to running future firmware updates, check the number of profiles in the device and present an the following options if they have more than 1,000: delete all rigs/reload factory, trunc to the first 1,000 rigs, or abort firmware update.
I'd prefer to have all memory available instead of an artificial limit imposed so firmware updates will work. Exporting, deleting all rigs, then upgrading isn't a big deal. Import afterwards as needed.

Not me. I prefer to upgrade without failure and I'd bet the posts each time a firmware is upgraded about failure and how to backup and restore will get old super quick. I'd bet the majority of users who have greater than 1,000 profiles is a result of not managing their device not that they use all the profiles. Of course this would all easily managed by a librarian... -
anyone noticed that theres a "performances"-folder in the backup-file now...?

It's not nice to tease us lowly non-beta testers.
How about a little hint.
