OK folks. Here's a question for you non-metal players:
If you were allowed only one guitar to handle everything, what would it be?

My Frankenstrat with DiMarzio ProTrack, FastTrack 1 and 2, coil tap. I know no guitar that comes even near to it in terms of range of tones and feel. She's my third kid.

Allowed only one guitar! Wash your mouth out with soap and water Zappledan!
Saying that, I'd go with a custom historic 335 with humbucker sized p90's.
Why just for non-metal players?
anyway..
I choose my Les Paul v.o.s. with SD APH II
it sounds good .
that's all I need

LOL
Why just for non-metal players?
Because I'm not a metal player and am truly interested for myself. Nothing against metal!

Easy answer: my USA strat with Suhr V60LP, locking tuners and super-vee bridge.
Didnt want to play your game anyway.(hurt metal fan)
metal , non-metal ,doesn't matter .
anyone of my Andersons can do everything and a little bit more
I wish everyone have a chance to play at least one of Anderson guitars in his lifetime...

Funny, but I helped out a friend and took over his Brain May Special with single coils, because I wanted a single coil guitar and a fender strat is not my thing. For a Telecaster I feel I need to get better with my playing first.
The cherry BM special turned out to be at the moment my favorite hardware and my once beloved Epi bone yard with Gibson burstbuckers stays very often in the case! Even the whammy bar works great!
Labrat
My 'one' guitar would be my 1989 Fenix Strat with Fender Tex Mex PU's.
Nothing really fancy with this guitar, but it sounds, feels and plays great for me.
It's 100% haptical compatibility between me and this guitar, and that's all that matters.
She inspires me every time.
the last years my PRS hollowbody II (black) was my absolut favorite.
but since few month i own a Gibson Buckethead Les Paul studio
Oversized Chambered Body
Mensur: 27" / 68.58 cm
ceramic Humbucker
and i love the split / singelcoilsounds.
Music Man Luke with piezo bridge and an EMG 89 instead of the 85.
Most definitely my modified Brent Mason Valley Arts tele...but why oh why restrict ourselves to only one...how about one at a time?

I am not a friend of the 'one guitar' - often are so many compromises when they try to make ONE guitar very versatile.
So I need at least 3 guitars - a great single coil one (Stratocaster or Telecaster), a LesPaul and something with high output and tremolo.
But ok, if I would be forced to have one guitar only - I would choose my PRS (with splitable humbuckers).
