I remember reading an interview with Robert Smith of "The Cure", where he was expressing frustration with similar comments about his band. Many of the bands of that genre had plenty of songs full of guitar, and usually as the focal point of their biggest hits. If a guitarist doesn't hear the music in the cool snaky clean, chorused, post-Surf lines in this stuff, its their loss
