I'm just digging this up because since this was on the subject, how many of you feel you can actually tell that you are playing a semi hollow when recording one of these? Do you think the "hollow" part is obvious and easily detectable?

The idea behind profiling is to capture the sound of an amp perfectly.

Not my Idea. My Idea of perfect is having a great sound that does exactly what I want.

for the first time, you are free to create amp tones as unique and individual as you are

Tones unique and individual don't sound like trying to capture the amp perfectly, but to capture them so I like them as an individual.

Some members of this forum have been able to tell the difference in blind tests. Sometimes the differences are negligible, sometimes they're not.

"Difference" may not include better or worse, just different. A KPA has the capability to copy ridiculously close, but it's up to the profiler. Make a bad profile and of course you can tell. Make a "good" one and you won't be able to tell. "Good" meaning exact if exact is what you are going after. I think a Kemper sometimes makes the amp a little better than the amp profiled as far as the uncompressed leveling and the served up on a platter ready to record/FOH sound.

I've never been happier or wanted to play an amp more and I've had at least 30 different great tube amps in the 43 years I've played. Having a KPA definitely has made the lockdowns way easier. It's hard to get bored with a Kemper. The other night instead of playing "normal" sounds I made a performance of Whammys, Chrystal delays, multi tap phased delays, volume swell delays etc. Just a bunch of super weird sounds. It was a blast!

I have no interest in floor devices of any sort; bending down to the floor to make a minor adjustment is uncomfortable and looks terrible onstage.

+1 These people wanting floor units must play to a tame sitting audience. No way would you want to have your expensive powered brain unit with knobs on the floor in the gigs I've played!

That being said, Most of the club bands around here are way overweight and wear baseball hats (my pet peeve) Not to mention have the stage presence of a dead carp with their Iphone mounted to their mic stand next to their beer holder so looks aren't considered.

If you really feel the urge in getting second kemper i would go 1 rack/head and second one is stage, this way you can control the head with the stage as remote and keep it for live usage.

As about stereo rig, idk guys if you are the only guitarist in a band then 2 amps are almost essential. Look at the bands like Royal Blood where Mike Kerr sends his bass into 2 amps (1 pitch shifted up to imitate guitar) and it works great. Also guys like Adam Jones blending 3 amps to get that really thicc guitar sound. If you can afford/pull it off its great i think. Also doing stereo rig is cheaper than having another mouth to pay/feed in a band :). Definitely not for everyone though since you have to change the way songs are written/mixed among many other things.

Profile a multiple amp setup like MW does.

It just seems like every brown 61-63 I hear, I really like, and knowing how Kemper can accurately copy an amp, I'd like to try an accurate profile of one. I think some sellers have them in their packs but I just want to play with one for a bit!

    I saw

    ST-CSG_BR_DELUXE_CR5FENDER BROWN DLXBrown DeluxeCSGBAND3.00 / 5.00 2012-04-13

Also, look in the Kemper "Amp Factory" Packs, and Legacy Rig Packs. There may be something there,

Maybe I'm over expecting. I guessed there would be many.

What do modeling companies not designing modelers specifically with your needs in mind have to do with you owning a Kemper?

OK I'll spell it out for you. Why would I buy something that DIDN'T have my needs in mind? I wouldn't. That's why I bought a Kemper. Kemper totally had my need in mind.

Normally amps on RE have a name you can associate with the original so you know what they are, presumably to avoid legal issues with the manufacturer, but makes it hard to guess it the other way around when searching. For example, what would be the best way to search for a Fender 61-63 6G3 brown deluxe profile? My search results were so small, I figured I am doing something wrong. 61 Flender, 63 Flounder, 62 Brownface got nothing I even tried 63 Fender and got 2 results.

The ability to use two or more amps and cabs simultaneously is pretty standard in a lot of modelers.

It's also pretty standard for most modelers to be not as good sounding. Kemper is leading the pack sound and feel wise, not following. The originality of the product tells me he wasn't trying to do the "standard" thing. And I'm thankful!

I could be wrong but I don't think that was the case. I believe that the original vision was specifically to allow touring pros to have a way of recreating their exact studio sounds in a simple to transport box. Hence the reason for the snapshot nature rather thanmodelling. It was also designed to allow studios to capture the entire signal path for a guitar take so that it could be reused later if an artist wanted to overdub something after the signal path had been dismantled. That seems like a very specific vision rather than a desire to create a way of satisfying a broader range of preferences.

As I wasn't there when he had the initial inspiration and don't know him personally to ask the question I will probably never know the truth but that is what I think happened.

He also realized you can't make some people happy with what YOU'VE done. Almost every big artist has a "custom" this or that, they have to let you know they're more important and can't just use the stock thing like everyone else or they have to "customize" it or they won't like it. (At my job as a machine designer, we call that "rubbing your stink on it"LOL) So instead of putting models in for someone to complain about, he made it so if you don't like the way it sounds, it's no one's fault but your own. Brilliant Idea.

i just got a kemper and working with the LCD menus feel like I just traveled back in time to year 2000 when cell phones started to become popular for common people. I hope a new kemper product comes out soon

How primitive is a 69 superlead UI? Very. How might it sound? Killer! I'd trade that any day for a digital unit with a flashy UI that looks amazing but sounds like a POD 2.0. The Kemper is way more advanced than an plexi front panel and I just want it to sound great, & be familiar with "normal" amp controls. That's the main reason I chose a Kemper over an AXFX. It's all there with a Kemper, simple and I didn't buy one for what my eyes like. I wouldn't care if it had a screen like an atari if it sounded the way it does. It's not an entertainment system or an Iphone, it's an amplifier.

I am very happy with the Kemper and ain't looking to buy other amps anymore.

Owning a Kemper cured my GAS. Especially knowing it can replicate any amp to the point the owner can't tell the difference. I think I want to play a '74 4 holer today, done. I wonder what a Friedman BE100 sounds & feels like? Done. Matchless? Sure. I am selling all my gear and rigs I would use live (except 1 for a backup)(Keeping all my vintage stuff of course) I have made mistakes and have regrets selling off gear in the past but with a Kemper I really cannot see that happening. It's really changed my entire outlook on wanting new amps.
