    hey folks,

So I purchased the tone junkie profiles and I started sorting through the piles of amps included...however, I am on some of the profiles...many of them are super obvious but others I have NO idea. Is there a list of the amps and their TJ reference name? His website does not list the amo names either probably due to copyright and trade mark reasons

I am familiar with the classics but some of the boutique amps I have no idea.

    Ex. Tall weeds myth Dallas

Awesome sounding profiles but I have NO idea.

Anyone know where I can find this info?

    Thanks so much!!!

    Update:

I did went over a list of things last night on the stage unit and nothing seemed to have fixed the issue.

So I thought "I'm early enough into the game only having used the stage for a week...maybe I accidentally adjusted something I wasn't suppose to....so what do I have to lose?" And I did a factory reset. That fixed it. I'm still getting some humming but the tone is on point. I use single coil guitars almost exclusively so that might be what the problem is. It seems to get worse the higher I run the preamp on the apollo. But there is definitely a huge different between profiles now as before they sounded the same with different degrees of gain and sounded thin.

thanks again to everyone for their help and expertise! Much appreciated

If I understand your initial post correctly (I am not familiar with your particular interface) the difference in levels is because one channel is set to mic level and the other line level, The mic channel has a preamp to boost a mic level signal to line level but if you are already sending it a line level from the KPA the preamp will be making that channel louder than the other. This is why several people have suggested using a pad. Also, if your interface uses combi inputs which accept XLR or TRS, the Preamp is often automatically engaged when XLR is used but not engaged when TRS. Therefore, to get two equal level channels you should use either TS cables or XLR to TRS cables.

I didnt even think of that! Will the XLR to TRS cable going from my kemper to the interface be the same audio quality as the XLR to XLR?

The pad only works with 1 of the 2 channels and is not present when I link up the 2 channels together. Also, as stated above, the one channel is significantly louder than the other...but now that I think about it, it's probably because in the consol program on my imac, I think I have a pre amp assigned to that channel. Does this make sense? Should I have a preamp assigned in consol or none at all?

At work for the day but I will check this again tonight. I had hockey last night and couldn't spend much time with it.

playing around with the Apollo, I have 2 XLR lines going from my stage to the UAD. Ch. 2 {mic} seems to control 90% of the volume, channel 1 {line} adds minimal hum gradually as you turn it up like a preamp does when being turned up. Is my ch 1 XLR bad?

If I turn up the master vol on the kemper the humming gets really loud.
‘I set the master vol on the kemper to half, the vol on the Apollo to half on ch 2 and the headphone volume and tone is much better but I have to add a noise gate and comp to compensate for the loads of hum coming through.

neither ch 1 or 2 are clipping on the apollo.

    Thanks so much!

I am thinking maybe it's a setting in the output block section of the profiler.

I am running the stage to my UAD apollo twin x via 2 XLR cables. I also have 1 instrument cable going to my Kemper power kabinet.

what should my settings look like for this setup? I will try to post a picture of my output screen in a few.

Profiles will sound similar if you are using a OD/Dist pedal out front since they add much of their own color. If you want your profiles to remain different from each other then don't use those pedals. Use the amps gain and definition instead.

Also, play loud for fat sound.

The only effects I'm using on the kemper is reverb and delay here and there but I have not found a sound that's worth playing through yet...stay tuned, in a couple hours I'll check a few things and report back.

Thanks for all the help thus far!

No worries. More information will help us help you. If all sounds good with the headphones directly into the Kemper then we know it is farther down the line. It could be a number of things in that signal chain.

Are the headphones before or after the output section?

    Couple of questions:

    1) Are you saying you can get good sounds but just not from the Tone Junkie profiles?

    2) Some profiles will be better suited to live - i.e. a reasonable volume

    3) As mentioned check your outputs but if some profiles sound as you expect, it could just be that the tone Junky ones are not to your taste. Many profiles of the same amp will not sound wildly different

    1. Kemper has a preloaded performance loaded on the kemper that sounds like "purple rain" settings and it sounds amazing...big, full sound with sustain.

I will check the output section...but when plugged into the back of the kemper I do remember having a WOW moment...so I think it's good up to that point. Maybe it's something in the interface?UA apollo town x?
