is this somehow compromising the file's integrity?
yes it can. and we did say that on numerous occasions. please do not change the file name.

Also, can you rescan RE w/o having to close the app?
My PC goes 24/24, and it would be good to be able to keep RM open when checking new entries on RE.
then you have to close and re-open rig manager every now and then.
gs
Well I didn't know RM two USB connectors (one for RM, one for firmware) share the same USB interface. I am with touch with support now.
you can use both at the same time without problems.
gs
I suspect a faulty USB port at this stage, either on the Profiler or the computer. You should try a different computer if possible, to proceed by exclusion (?)
the OP states that "It seems to recognise the KPA no problem as it shows up just under rig exchange". in which way does this indicate a faulty USB port?
gs
You can do this on the file names (but not on the tags) via Total Commander (Win) or other file managers.
Use copies anyway, you never know...
guys, please do not change the file names of the individual rigs. you will damage things!
gs
Unless I'm missing something, it seems that if I connect the Profiler to my PC when RM is already running, the unit is not scanned. I have to restart the app.
Also, once RE has been scanned you can't update RM unless you restart it
Would be great if the user could refresh the Profiler's or RE's scan w/o having to restart RE. A simple "scan again" would do the trick.
What do you think?
i can connect Profiler while Rig Manager is open and it will add the device to the list. both on OSX and Windows.
gs
Among my local rigs I had two from Bill Ruppert. They seemed identical, and after comparing their sound I decided to delete one of the two. They have both disappeared. It seems they were ghost images of each other ...
rigs have a unique filename, unless somebody modified it or tampered with it in another way, there is no such thing as an identical rig for rig manager. i saw somewhere else that you recommended to alter the file name. changing the file name can lead to what you describe above.
gs
First I love this forum
second, while typing in a text box I can't see the words until I hit return to go to the next line
idk if anyone else experienced this ?
you can scroll the text within the text box.

we have found that pretty much every USB stick we've tested worked fine so far. the only thing i personally would advise against is sticks with a build in recovery volume (which usually holds additional windows software).
and it does not matter if the stick supports USB3 or just USB2.
gs
Pretty sure this is a problem on the computer with drivers or host controller and not the Kemper.
that's my impression as well.
gs
as far as i can recall you need to click on HW Setup within the Avid Core Audio manager application to configure the SP/DIF options. this is at least true for Pro Tools HD, so take this hint with a pinch of salt.
in any case, if the driver doesn't provide channel names to Logic, the sequencer will only show numbers. in your screenshot you can see, there are two stereo inputs (Input 1+2, Input 3+4). try both and make sure you create a stereo audio channel in the first place.
hth, gs
we will close this thread, if the political side discussion goes on. please move on, there is nothing to see here.
... and it is also not necessary to comment on my comment
thank you sirs,
gs
I get logged out all the time too, new forum software seems kinda buggy?
a session expires when you're idle for 30 minutes. the same was true for the previous software version of this forum. i've set it to 60 minutes now. if you get logged out (as in you need to log in again in order to reply to a post) you need to make sure that you log in and check "keep me logged in for ...". all i can say is that i don't post a frequent as some of you guys and i pretty much never have to log in.

@G String
data <> date
oh ... right ... that's true indeed ...
CUBE: you can change pretty much every tag in the inspector unless the list displays the content of rig exchange (which is read only).
gs
After updating RM doesn't allow any changes to the data-fileds of one or more selected profiles.
the date was never a part of the inspector, it only showed up in the list. so what do you refer to?
gs
Not to mention that Kemper has distanced themselves from the selling of profiles even on these boards. "Commercial rigs and profiles" "Kemper Amps is not affiliated with content offered in this sub forum."Seems very disconcerting to me.
would "we are not affiliated with the parties offering their content" be a better wording? because that's what we are trying to bring across.
gs
you can use the comment field to add all sorts of info on the rig. and you can search/filter for that info later using the search field in rig manager
gs
To fix the problem, you could either delete the database files as you thought, or uninstall and reinstall the rig manager, which should fix things.
the "problem" has nothing to do with what you state above. and what you state will not cure either. we are aware of the "issue" and will address is one day. the number of rigs stays unchanged because the downloads are doubles in Rig Exchange which Rig Manager automatically filters out.
gs
BTW, it would be interresting to stick the info that when the rig exchange is temporary down, it will lead to Rig manager 'strange behaviours' :
we prefer to just fix that
