I'd prefer an unreal leslie with variable speeds.

To be mildly serious..
You should maybe wrap your mic in something soft and weight it down if you don't have a stand. The profiling sounds are bound to vibrate it if it's laying on a cardboard box and that's unlikely to help the process.

I admit I did indeed laugh out loud.
Not particularly at the content, which is politically incorrect , but at the construction.

Soon there will be tone cork sniffers who will tell you they can tell the difference in a profile made with a product box from Boss vs. one from PreSonus.
Yeah, they scoffed at a round world once!
Why else do you suppose he used the Boss box? You don't have to be a cork sniffer to get the name...boss...BOSS!!...of course it's going to sound better, the facts are written on the box.
Maybe even 132% more better.

Did I miss something?
Not yet.
Just thought I'd float that balloon and perhaps alter the course of spindly-fingered, ego-driven guitar playing history a little, heh.
Just agree, it's easier than being wrong.

Just an idea, really.
I don't visit many guitar forums but when I do I see some pretty lame infighting usually caused by people defending their choice of gear.
If someone shows up here yapping about why they don't like the Kemper and that "X" is better can we all agree to just let them be with their decision/judgement/troll behaviour?
It's not so much the antagonist which bothers me but the immediate response from other gear users. It just looks really pathetic to fight with some collection of pixels and does the gear being defended no favours and I'm really hoping that crap doesn't show up here.
Cheers!

You should be able to get closer than a perceived 75%. Keep at it.

Rig sharing at the main site.

Negligible. I came up through old school r'n'b and funk. Dry, tight, in the pocket. So far as I've noticed with anything like that there's nothing amiss. I think those with latencies need to look elsewhere for the culprit.
60 thousand notes a second sweep playing might give a different result.
If the noise gate is over zealous there'll be a noticeable ramping up of the volume which cuts off the attack and gives the impression of latency.

Those pics are from the guy I bought the guitar from, I'm thinking he's either extremely tall or else they're his kids feet.
Nice rigs, GT, been playing them most of the afternoon today. Well, one of 'em...as usual I find a sound I like then hours go by, heh.

It's from 1981.
Best guess by Peter Mac ( one of the Tokai gurus) is that it was a straight ST100 which had probably belonged to a Japanese rock star who'd taken it back to Tokai for customisation.
The serial is cool but we don't think it's accurate.

Uh oh...many men posts ahead!

Tokai fan, eh?

Oh sure, pull the other leg!
I mean it's already a stretch that the Kemper does what it does but now you're trying to tell me there are guitars in existence which are somehow not Telecasters?

I can't even begin to get into the alphabet/knob thing....I thought all that hassle went away with synth modules in the 80's! Still, at least until there's an editor (inevitable, surely) I suppose it'll have to do. All my profiles meantime are 1, 2, 3, 4 and on....:D

I did wonder if he was maybe a buddy and you were all getting a little tired of the WIN meme which has so infected the internet.
-
Yeah...no disrespect to anyone but home recording amps and cabs usually doesn't cut it in comparison to doing it in a proper studio with nice mics and an experienced engineer who's done it a thousand times. Still, there's no reason that the amp section should be any different so it's still a valid thing.
My approach to any of my own profiling is to try and catch less obvious sounds, the kinds of things where proper studio practice doesn't matter so much...so kind of 'effect' sounds, things I'll find uses for just as small colours in a track. The 'wrong' eq, some weird pedal, etc. Anything as long as it's different..
I've had little success so far, lol!
I did wonder what might happen if I was to stick a wahwah between the mic preamp and the Kemper while it was profiling.
I already tried drenched reverb but only landed up with a clean profile....very strange, the Kemper just seemed to remove the reverb entirely.

Sounds like you might need some longer cables.
As it happens I have some pure amonyte cables for sale, only 3K per metre. I'd do you a 'mates rates' deal since you're a KPA owner, though.
5k per metre, then.
On a less frivolous note...all of my clean DI profiles are much quieter after I've profiled. The reference amp sounds fine, the LED is set just under red, the profile sounds fine but it's pretty low in level...have you found this?
