If i'm not wrong, he won't be able to push rigs from his library or make updates if he owns only a tab/smartphone ?!
I am assuming OS and rigs can be added via thumb drive. Old School

Display MoreThis player isn't for me - I have a Stage ..... but is it true (?) that Kemper have said that at some time in the future they will release updates which add more features etc.... but you will have to pay for them ?!?!
This would be stunning to me ... and not in a good way.
I'm not aware of any 2023 modeler that charges for new features, efx, amp etc...... Fractal, L6, Boss GT, current Kemper units etc.....
I just cant see or believe that Kemper / Christoph would even consider going down this path ?
Ben
I was quite surprised Ben, I was struggling to understand the crippling of the unit assuming it had the resources in DSP.
I was actually starting to wonder if they were trying out a new chip.
I’m not very verse with all the digital machines out there but TONEX charge decent coin for more profiles and you can bet Neural DSP will if they get their shit together.
We will have to wait and see what they charge and how they structure it.
At least in having the stage you know what’s worth paying for.

Amazing! I proposed this very similar idea back in February 2022.
While I understand that my proposal is not the product that's come to market, you have to admit the concept is very close.
I continue to use my KPA for performances, but would it be too bold of me to ask Kemper to send me a complementary Kemper Player in recognition of my suggestion?
I'll purchased one regardless. It would be nice to have as a momento of my suggestion.
Thanks for this beautiful piece of engineering!
Ha, don’t mean to burst your bubble but people have being asking for this for a decade
If I’m reading the manual correctly it doesn’t appear to include the Kemper Drive and Kemper Fuzz FX types. That seems a bit strange for two such recent and highly acclaimed effects. I hope I’m wrong though.
Yeah weird, if they are using the legacy DSP chip which I have no idea, I can’t see any reason not to throw all the effects in, apparently many other effects are missing too, maybe saving something for NYE?
I love the size of this for traveling.
I am a bass player and want to use an SVT cabinet so I would need it powered. Is there a small power amp that I could use to power the cab?
Maybe look at the Seymour Duncan PowerStage range, built like tanks not exactly cheap but mine has served me well.
For a less expensive option maybe check out the TC Electronic Bam or BH250.
Well, as it can't do performances as well...you are right. You don't need a display as you only have 3 sounds at your disposal. So no real need to see if you are on the right sound.
What? This is not a replacement for your toaster, rack or stage, it has its own paradigm, clearly from your posts it’s not the product that you hoped for, same here but hey it’s not all about us.
I haven't been able to absorb all the news & specs, but one question: are you able to load your own, personally captured profiles?
Absolutely to my understanding.
Hehe.. I already have 2 kpa (Head + PWRack) for those rare sessions when I "need" dual amp.
I Was on Kemper website and Ive noticed It's Officially called KEMPER PROFILER Player but actually it Doesn't Profile. It's a bit confusing isn't it?
Based on your posts your studio space looks like Aladdin’s cave so I’m not surprised you have two and yes to call it a profiler when it’s a player is a bit strange, it’s about brand recognition I suppose.
It blows my mind that so many people on the interweb get their nickers in a knot because it should have x w & z.
Kemper drew a line in the sand, if they added all the missing features you get a Stage, kinda stupid really.
It’s designed for a pedal board, not a backup unit.
It doesn’t need a screen (genius), now we know why Kemper back flipped on the no android support.
No FX loop, place pedals before and after, simple, even if you use this in the studio with your PC it’s still redundant, but they still give us 4 slots.
As we all know the majority of people have not ever profiled an amp even though they have the means.
The Kemper team in my opinion have given a lot of thought into the end user scenarios and what was needed and as far as I’m concerned seemed to have nailed the feature vs size vs cost variables.
Display MoreNot every. But the basics of using and loading your existing rigs (not just the amp profile), and a small screen so you know what rig you’re on.
Because then the unit is a fully functional backup for those of us with a Stage - in addition to a “pedal board” unit that it seems more designed for. Not all of us have a pedal board and the Kemper is our entire rig. Just seems a shame to eliminate us as an intended user
Great for folks that a rig with 4 slots is ok, but mine almost always have more.
OD/Dist stomp
A chorus or phaser or tremolo
stereo widener
Delay
Reverb
That’s already more than it can handle. Sometimes mine might also have an EQ. we’re not talking anything fancy here.
Ps this isn’t actually a cheap unit. Yes it’s half the price of a Stage but it’s still not cheap. It’s comparable in price to a HX STOMP which is far more featured than what this Player seems capable of. People keep quoting other units that are half the price of this, which isn’t a fair comparison.
Anyway I’ll leave it there… no point dwelling on it, is what it is.
Yes it’s not for you, you are not the target market as myself, simple really.
Display Moreyeah yeah... I can also think even More Positive : Les Paul + wah wah + a Good singol channel Marshall IS what I basically ever need But. . . . Now that I've used to.. since 2011... this new kemper product seems a bit too much reductive.
Can I just have 1 singol Full performance I'm comfortable with in a compact/traveler/easy and cheaper pedal board ? NO . OK !
this is not for me..
as simple That.
I'm not angry... Maybe a lil diappointed.
But actulally OK. Cheers
Well Sollazzon maybe the product isn’t for you?; it’s not for me either and then some bastard suggested the possibility of dual amps damm it.
Would have bought it ...BUT: no display is a no-go for me
I am disapointed, that the remote looks not to be compatible...Maybe due to the restirctions in slots and FX-loop... and dificultied in assaigning? So maybe understandable, but this makes is less interesting for me.
I would have gone for a smaller form factor same functinality unit (Who wouldnt... )
I guess it will be possible to add external switches?
I mean 4 slots with three footswitches is already a bit short - but how will I switch rigs than?
Don’t know what your eyesight is like but a screen on this would be a nightmare for me.
Editing via a device is now my preferred way by far.
The foot controller seems overboard for the design of the unit, maybe a small midi foot control that will fit on a board would be a better match.
Do people really expect a player with every Kemper feature, just smaller and at half the price?
Exactly, people have been asking for this for eight or so years, Kemper delivers and people get or torn up on what is missing from the flagship product.
I think they gave it a lot of thought, scaled back small unit for your pedal board, easily transferable for your project studio and tempting to people who have wanted a profiler but mindful of the cost.
The lack of screen explains the release of the android app, and I hope with this further development which I’ve being patiently waiting for may finally materialise.
It’s not for me personally, but I’m not the target market.
Times are tough, my 11 year old vintage white toaster still serves me well, the only other unit that interests me is the stage.
See what sort of money you get for a Axe of similar age or worse a line 6 unit.
I think I chose wisely.
I’m still waiting on new speaker imprints 😗
Hi Rob, welcome, how are you monitoring all this?
Display MoreTheoretically, Liquid Profiles should be pickup agnostic, especially if the profiling amp setting is:
Gain = max; and
The tone controls are all set to 12 o' clock
i.e. a sweet spot wasn't selected based on a specific guitar, which might have been SC or HB.
It should then just be a case of taking a Liquid Profile and tweaking the gain and tone to suit the guitar you are using - like you would for the real amp itself.
Whereas, non Liquid Profiles are snapshots of specific amp settings that the person profiling dialled in (and probably also refined) with a specific guitar. A Strat sounds different to an ES355, so these profiles will be aligned better to the guitar type that was used to set the amp gain and tone. Liquid Profiling (as I understand it) helps remove this link.
If I've misunderstood, it would be useful to hear from the Kemper team with any clarification.
That sounds pretty solid, like to know what Thomas dill thinks.
Nice mate, great recorded Kemper tones, so tasty 😋
Does anyone know if this offers any improvement to the iOS version for iPad.
Example - a usable navigation menu for profiles, access to system and rig menus?
