No these are straight Studio Profiles. I will be updating these and the other packs I have with DI's shortly. They will be available free of charge for folks who have bought from me.
I filled in all the metadata for the profiles. It states which channel/mode is used as well as speakers and mics.
The boosted high gain vintage channel with the V30... I love it... I couldn't stop playing it lol
I finished up the Tremoverb pack.. FINALLY!
YOU WILL NEED FW 3.0 FOR THIS PACK!!!
There are 28 profiles.
All channels/modes
Boosted and Unboosted
Speakers - SB25/Celestion Greenbacks/V30
Here are some samples:
I haven't messed with DI profiles too much yet. Seemed OK. But yeah, regular profiling has worked fine. Just like before.
I'm reading about issues being reported so I'm curious how many have upgraded?
I upgraded my KPA last week and it's been fine. Seems like it boots up and shuts down quicker.
It's an old 1980's G12T-75. Got it on eBay for cheap. Figured "Hey it's worth the risk". Put it in my 4x12 last night and was pretty impressed. This is a profile I made of it.
Amp: Late 80's 2203
Cab: Mojotone 1960B Clone
Mic: SM57
For the boosts, I used the KPA Treble Booster. Delay is from the KPA as well and there's no post processing.
Sounds great man!
Where are your profiles available from?
I'm working on the Mesa Tremoverb as we speak. Hope to have that ready in the next couple days
For all those that have bought profiles from me, I will be working on the revised versions to take advantage of all the new features the new firmware has to offer. These updates will be available for free for existing customers. I will have more details soon.
Very nice! I know the trem-o-verb well. I've had one since '95 or so. One of the all-time great amps in my opinion. Your profile nailed it!
Thanks man! Glad you like them. I always want to capture the tone of the amp. There's going to be additional V30 profiles as well very shortly.
anything that uses diminished stuff is sweet my my books.
NICE! I love diminished runs and sweep picking..
Thanks man!
it sounds good indeed! a bit too frizzy and high in tone for my taste (talking about the dist tone - but guess it can stick out in the mix allright), but it can be tweaked at will.
good job
mic
Thanks for checking it out. Yeah it's meant to kind of be in a denser mix.
Just did these quick clips to test my profiles. What do you guys think?
All the fx are from the KPA. No post processing... zero... nada... bupkis.
A quick clip with bass, clean and lead
Display MoreI make the comment based on my Quick Rod. If you notice, I didn't say any of Tim's Brown Eye profiles were too dark. The TAF profiles I have tried are very hit or miss for my needs I have 2 years exclusive first hand knowledge of the Quick Rod. I know how the amp operates and how it sounds dialed in for everything from Tom Petty to In Flames. I was also very complementary of his Small Box profiles. I think Tim has a great ear for rock tones. Where my complaint came from about many of the commercial profiles I've tried, like the MBritt PT100, is it needed heavy additional EQ to not sound like it was in a tin can.i definitely have a certain sound I like and make no bones about it BUT I bought the Kemper for versatility. It's inevitable to have some profiles not work out.
i plan on using Tims Brown Eye profiles for live use. They sound equally as good with my power amp and Splaw 2x12 and needed no additional tweaking. The only thing I did do was engage the boost in the "X" button spot. Hope I don't sound jerky!
i am working on Urge Overkill' "Sister Havana" with some Mesa Rectoverb profiles a buddy sent me to test. My thing is, I try to do my clips with zero to little tweaking of the profiles to show how well they sit in a mix "as is". I have been doing this because when I have bought profiles based off retailers clips, I've been very unsatisfied. So far the closest I've gotten to the clips that made me purchase are the TopJimi Marshalls, V/Rad Studios JCm 800 and the xRay Diezel.
anyway, I love what Tim is doing and I've certainly bragged on this project on Rig-Talk, GuitarAmpBoard and TGP.
You hit on a crucial point here. You have to have experience with the amp from both the profiler perspective as well as the user perspective. In your case (and mine) I've spent roughly 8 years with the Splawn Quickrod and rough 30 years with 2203's. I literally know these two amps inside and out. So when I hear a profile, I expect it to sound like the amp...un-doctored, un-processed... i.e. raw. This is the whole reason why I started profiling amps. Very few of the amp profiles I heard when I initially got the Kemper accurately represented the profiled amplifier to me. I admit, I haven't tried every profile and I gravitated to amps I have a good deal of experience with. However, out of those I felt few if any truly sounded like the source amp. Now why the hell would I want a raw profile? Well because I don't want someone adding filtering and running outboard gear since my application can be completely different from what the individual profiler had in mind. Having a raw profile allows me to mix it and apply it to my projects without having to shoe-horn them in due to someone else's interpretation. Anyway... that's my 2 cents.
Also, I totally appreciate what guys on the Rig Exchange are doing. I think it's what makes the Kemper the awesome piece of gear that it is.
