Hi,
Is it better to leave the KPA on always (I work everyday in my studio) or turn it off every night? Using a smart outlet, it show's it would cost only about $8 a year in power... so does the system get stressed by powering on/off at all? Thanks!

We have no evidence, what's causing more or less wear. Do you normally leave all your electronic gear up and running? I switch my PROFILER units off.
Because it runs so cool, you'd think it'd be fine, but...
The power-down routine (in the software) executes a little "housekeeping", so for maximal efficiency / smooth running in the long term I'd suggest powering it down once in a while.
I say this because if it didn't have benefits, I can't see why the routine would have been written in the first place.
I usually leave on my Macpro and a few others ...and shut off the monitors. Thanks for the info! Appreciate it.
Thanks for the info, Monkey_Man . I had wondered whether it was safe to power down the Profiler from a power strip or if it was better to do it from the switch. Now I know.
Don't get me wrong, dB - it's safe to power down externally; IIRC Christoph himself does this.
It's just that IMHO it'd be prudent once in a while to do it via the chicken knob so the shutdown routine can go about its housekeeping duties.
I used to leave my studio gear on to avoid wear until we had a fire. Fortunately it was during a tea break, but I came back in to see a mixing desk PSU going up in flames.
Soundcraft were good and replaced the unit, but with electronics being made so cheaply these days, I have never trusted a whole studio of gear again.
