I got the new OS version message window popup in Rig Manager last night. I had updated to v 6.00.14574 when it was released in May so I assumed a new update was available and allowed the install. After the process went ahead - download and install - I have the same 14574 build date 28 May on the KPA. So - what happened was this an error of has the OS version gone from Beta to Release?
OS update last night?

It was already "Release" on May 28th, as evidenced here:
I've seen the odd "phantom update" such as you described before on the forum IIRC, but just as in your case, nobody seems to have been adversely-affected by them. The important thing is that your machine's still up-to-date and you've lost nothing compared to where you were yesterday.

Thanks, Nicky. I was puzzled because RM had been open for days on the machine - laptop that sleeps at night - so the message popping up out of the blue wasn't following the launch of RM.

Well, I've always been sceptical about employing sleep on an audio machine, so don't do so myself.
If I had a dollar for every time I've seen things go south with audio apps and interfaces due to sleep. In almost every one of these cases rebooting cleared the problems and normal behaviour resumed.

I have a similar policy on workstations where anything other than a full restart can visit issues on you but this Tosh laptop works fine with my RME interface and the KPA.

I shut down my computer every night at the end of a full system scan ...
