I've always played guitar in metal bands, so although I love all kinds of music (and played the piano in a lovely pop band for a while), when it came to buying guitars my priority was always in that niche:

I guess the cost of gear, and amps especially, kind of locks you into a certain genre. I used to play through a Peavey 5150II so entering the world of Fender sounds would have entailed getting a suitable amp for that as well, and that was just too big a financial step in a direction I didn't have any direct (i.e. band-related) use for.
Since I got my Kemper, though (which of course performs excellently in my doom death metal band), I just heard so many rigs that would sound amazing with a strat that I started experiencing Fender GAS, completely out of the blue. So I finally gave in and found a lovely second hand (completely as new) Mexican model online for 300€. I picked it up last night and released my inner Knopfler, and I love it! And I love how the Kemper just does it all, from sparkly clean to brutal high gain...
