Hi guys anyone out there used this or a similar program. I've just purchased it as I got it for a good price, but haven't had time yet to set it up. Just wondering if anyone who has used it has had better results now with there mixes translating well on different systems

Yep I've used it since Arc 1 ..and now use Arc 2 .. mixes translate well onto other systems ...take your time doing the room measurement for best results ...I'm sure mire than a few people will say Arc 2 is all smoke and mirrors but I have to say IMO it does what it says it will do

Thanks millstudios, how many measurements did you take when setting up ?

Hey Raoul ...to be honest I can't remember exactly but about 30 ? (it's whatever the maximum number suggested in the manual is ...)

I think ill do mine again then, I only took 12 measurements today

I'm using ARC 2 sometimes, but it can't change a bad room into a good one. Anyway it's a nice tool for small home-studios.

I guess it can punch down peaks - but probably won't take care of nulls and not much of ringing either?

Precisely. Flutter echo and imaging problems, not to mention bass overhang and time domain smearing won't be helped in the slightest. I think products like this are best suited to making final adjustments to an already well-controlled and damped room.Cheers,

Well I just did my first mix with ARC2 on while mixing. I brought up a project I did a few weeks back and remixed it from scratch, then I burned both mixes to CD and played them in my car. The new mix sounded so much better, and translated a lot better on a few other systems as well that I tried it on. I didn't spend much time on the new mix, but the difference is there and better. Money well spent then I say. I'm now looking forward to mixing more with it and seeing what my results are

Glad it's helped Raoul ....
it will never helped a bad room but I definitely find that mixes translate better onto all systems when I use it (I put it on from when I begin tracking until I bounce the final mix -Arc turned off- ) -
Great to hear that you had good results
Arc2 is good for a room that isn't really bad, but has some weak points (like a lot of studio-rooms). Normally bass is heavy to control, if the room is too boomy, Arc2 can't really help.
I mixed my album "Tales Of A Broken Planet " in my home-studio using Arc2 and it helped me a lot.

I've used ARC1 and 2 in the past and still do but found recently that I got a much better results by adding some room treatment. Before the room treatment, ARC was a great solution but after I put the treatment in (Primacoustic London 12 kit) and redid the measurements, the difference was not that great. ARC does correct a big dip I have on the right side in the 100hz area but I could probably live without it.
Cheers,

This. The real problem with steady (fixed) EQ room corrections is that they are... steady, while resonances and stationary waves are dynamic. The second main issue being that you can hardly be so surgical to just operate on the offending freqs (bands).
A room treatment gives by far better results, and can of course vastly improve EQ corrections -
A few mixes done now with ADC on and it has really helped my mixes translate on other systems. Very pleased with this
