Ok so I have to play around with the gain level on my kemper quite often and sometimes it just felt unnatural so I was thinking - is there a way to compare the gain changes on the kemper vs. amp. Since pretty much everyone with a solid amp I could profile is currently unavailable I thought - why not ask it here and maybe someone here will be able to conduct those experiments and post the results for everyone to see.
If there is already such a thread then I´m sorry but I couldn´t find it and please post the link.
Here is what I thought:
1. Profile a tone (preferably metal. I´m a metal guy and preferably in the 6.5-7.5 KPA-gain region).
2. Profile the same tone but with slightly more AND slightly less gain. So lets say #1 is 7.0 then profile the tone with 6.5 and 7.5
3. Reamp a guitar track where the gain structure really comes to shine (for example - bone merrow or carna asada. Multitracks are available online) with all 3 profiles. Then Change the gain on the #1 profile to the gain-levels of the #2+#3 profiles and re-amp the same track there aswell.
Now we should have a very nice comparison on how the kemper gain-change compares to the on-amp gain change. Any flaws in that plan? Any takers?
