How to make a cabinet IR? Step by step.

I have a cabinet simulator box that sounds fantastic on certain sounds. It was costum built for me by T-rex when they were a small company (i know the founders, so they did some nice things for me back then).
so i would like to know how to make an IR of that box. Step by step.
questions include:
Is it starter pistol or sine sweep method?
do i need to deconvolve or can i take the raw resulting wave file into the cab maker software.
Does anybody have the right soundfile to run through the box (be it sine sweep or starterpistol or whatever is needed)

Please no "why do you want to do that" replies.

Asking because some forums allow this and others don't and i don't want to make an ass of myself

Actually i found out how. Apple has a program called Impulse Response Utility. A little "convoluted" to use but after a couple of tries i succeeded. Now the strange thing is that when i imported it (via Cab Maker) to the Kemper it didn't show up anywhere despite the Kemper reporting a succesful import.

Righty. Got it imported, but as reported in another thread for some reason cab maker changes the sound, which using the IR in my daw doesn't.

The reason i could not see it was that i was expecting it to show up under the name given to the kipr file but it showed up under the name the deconvolved wav file had instead.

most threads in the CabMaker subforum are pretty old though. pre-CabMaker 2.0 I guess.

it is also interesting to know that disabling the CABINET on the Profiler activates the CabDriver.
so Profiler (CABINET off) -> DAW with IR
will sound differently than
Profiler with imported IR
use a direct profile to compare these two.
also don't merge the Cabinet.

Hi Don. for some reason i can't see your PM so i am posting here....
In this zip file there are two wav files. the one called "1" is the deconvolved IR. Plus ofcourse the kipr file
The other one, which shows the difference in sound, has the contents explained in the file name.
