if you use Performance Mode, assign the five rigs to Performance Bank 1, buttons 1 - 5. They are automatically assigned to MIDI PC 1 - 5, for use with a MIDI controller. Or, you can use the KPA Remote.
Browse Mode with a Midi controller: you can assign MIDI program changes to specific rigs in the System Menu.
Browse Mode with The Remote: edit the names of the rigs so they will appear as the first five rigs in the "all rigs" view.
OK, so I want to use my Kemper live and have yet to do so....I've made some excellent DI profiles that I'll be using live but can't figure out the pedalboard setup....Do I need a performance setup? Is it that complicated just to get certain patches to correspond to pedals 1-5?

You can also do this in browse mode. In the system menu, there is a section where you can assign a midi PC number to a profile. Just choose profile 1 for stomp 1 (i.e. PC#0), profile 2 for stomp 2 (i.e. PC#1), etc.
You can also do this is performance mode to really streamline things, since you will be sending the same midi PC number for changing to the next performance.

Do not forget to enable the slot with the 4. Softbutton so you can load a Rig.
I make my set up as simple as possible. I mainly use 4 Rig's and just save them to favorites. Everything else is deleted and stored away.
If i want to audition new ones, I just connect Rig Manager
