Hi guys, as the title states how do you guys choose and set up a kemper amp when profiling a real amp? All he demos I have seen seem to overlook this part.
Thanks

Choose one that's similar to the one you intend to profile.
It's only for reference sake.
So make sure you like your reference profile, too.
Thanks make, i'm trying to profile a Mesa Mark 5 but all the Mark V profiles I have heard including ones I have bought sound terrible so its not a good start.
It's not mandatory to choose a mark V, just choose a profile that sounds very close and feels like the real deal,as it's a reference tone. I'd suggest Djemass collection and Tim's Friedman.
I keep 6 reference amps when profiling , they are very different in their behavior but really similar to the original.
The Profile selected when switching to PROFILER mode has no influence on the resulting Profile.
It can serve as a positive reference that can be easily A/B'ed against your setup to ensure your settings/mic position(s) are uh... sensible.

Also, the profile you MAKE will copy the tags from the profile you use as a reference - so maybe make a profile and adjust all the tags for that one - then make any new profiles based on that one, should make tagging easier.
Thanks everyone for your replies, I have some good friedman amps that I like so will give them ago.
I had some issues with my Mark V profiling it. Friedman BE100 profiles are easy to manipulate and sound amazing. I like them better then the mark V head I had and look at Sinmix profiles. They are incredible for heavier rock/metal/prog eq-ing
