@paults Thanks for the input man. Ok, so, gear aside, a studio has no advantage other than the ability to hear the mic'd amp through different variations and combinations of mics and mic positions?
IMO, The biggest advantage to using experienced ears in a studio is the engineer's ability to place the microphone, as well as get a sound that will work well in a mix, in a short amount of time.
But, depending on your experience, and the time you put into Profiling, there is no reason why you can't create great sounding profiles.
Find the spot in the room where the cab sounds best - that's your best bet 
It will likely be a long-ish process, with recording snippets of audio maybe
Id try to minimise reflections, just to be on the safe side.
You could simply dampen, heavily (using folded blankets and whatnot), a nook or cranny somewhere and place the cab there.
Check that it doesn't sound boxy, especially if this ends up being a spot where most surfaces are very-close-by.
