so I have the powered head unit - I just got it
to use rig manager… I need to hard wire this to a PC, or to use it with my IPad, hard wire it to my router?
I can’t seem to find a good explanation anywhere
if anyone can walk me thru this pls…

Jeff, there are really two/three ways to do this. First, you can do the above and use a USB to wire it directly to your PC and use Rig Manager on your PC/Mac.
If you want to use an iPad, you will need to plug the Network to your router/switch and then you can actually use your iPad to connect.
Another solution (expecially helpful if you have the remote) to use the iPad is to buy a PoE (Power over Ethernet) Switch and plug the router to it and your Kemper and Remote to it as well. This will let you use the remote and iPad. If you want to go wireless, you could get a WiFi bridge to connect to the switch to make a wireless connection to your router. Here is a good example:
