Marshall JCM800+HM2 by R.U Sirius. Definitely try it for Swedish deathmetal.

I thought the Swedish Deathmetal sound came from the Peavey 5150!!!!!
-
The first Peavey 5150s are from 1992.
The use of the Boss HM-2 started some years earlier, for example on the famous Entombed "Left Hand PAth" record from 1990. -
Well, then I would say: If you dont want a outdated sound I would try to find a Profile from a Peavey 5150!
You will get the sound of bands like: At the gates, The Haunted!
Check them out!

outdated?
why so negative?
For Death Metal you´ll need a high gain amp in general, there are hundrets of profiles that will or won´t do the job... -
Uhm, At the Gates "Slaughter of the Soul" was Boss HM2 and Metal Zone, not 5150.
But for modern death I'd go with anything Engl. Fireball, Savage etc.
For a huge sound, Mesa Rectifier, Diezel Herbert. For a really huge sound, a big distorted bass guitar sound + middle heavy guitar tone.

The 6505 Amp Factory profiles nail the Carcass heartwork tone with a bit of tweaking. Played through some of my favorite Carcass songs the other day with them.
