Mesa Boogie Mark III Red Stripe

  • Thanks for profiling again :) I usually set my gain around 10/11 o clock & don't need no scoop/ EQ you're right ( With your F rig this is where I dialed my gain ). I don't play very heavy ( except this one )

I'd love a clean and a crunchy profile of the Mark III since those boogies can shine in this registery , also do you have a single coil guitar (tele or strat ) to make a matching low gain profile ?

Thx for your work , if you have a sister I'll mary her ;)

  • I have 4 old clean profiles i made, don't know if they are good enough but try them out if you want to, they are also made with sm57 and rectifier 2x12 v30.
I made 2 profiles for you without graphic eq, and lower gain a lot too, maybe to much?
i did not touch push/pull knobs from my normal settings so they might be too bright for you?
Sorry do not have single coil loaded guitar ;(

no metal profiles found in here ;)

  • man, this is great collaboration !

I gave a shot to the last ones with my strat and they sound fat ! I had to eq a bit and use def & clarity settings but I like em too , as well as the clean ones.

I just read the Mark III docs , and If you still own it (http://www.mesaboogie.com/manuals/Mark%20III.pdf ) The one i'd really like to ear is the Funk rig & articulate lead setting (page 1)

I'n not in a hurry Thumas so take your time , I feel unconfortable asking.

On wikipedia there is a short story about mark III variations :

    Purple Stripe
The second revision was the "Purple Stripe" Mark III, which featured a purple marker stripe above the power cord. This amplifier was voiced with a more mellow lead and crunch modes, with slightly reduced gain.

    Red Stripe
The third revision was the "Red Stripe" Mark III which featured a red marker stripe above the power cord. The amplifier had increased gain over the purple stripe, and lead mode circuitry almost identical to the IIC+.
    Blue Stripe

The fourth revision was the "Blue Stripe" Mark III which featured a blue marker stripe above the power cord. The amplifier was voiced so bright, it is considered to be the most aggressive Mark Series Boogie ever introduced. The power amp was also altered to mirror that of the IIC+.

  • Thank you guys for giving me your opinions.

Waraba, the settings used was not far of from that settings in mesa manual, on my profile treble was set at 6.5 bass 2 mid 5 but i did not have the bass knob pulled,
also presence was set at 2.5 (don't understand mesas recommended presence settings, sounds way harsh to my ears)

Maybe i could try the exact settings some other day.

  • Nice to hear you enjoy them.

I will share a few last ones then i probably stop spam you with profiles from this amp (at least with this cab and mic setup)

In this file there is three files named x x2 x3 and those are very similar to each other, only difference is really small adjustments on 750 slider.
Those profiles are with settings found from Flemming rasmussens notes from master of puppets recording, you can find his notes here http://www.fwrproduction.com/FWR_Produktion/FWR.html
Keep in mind that this will not sound spot on, differance speakers and so on, but feel free to try them.

The other two profiles is named w and w2 and the difference between them are also the 750hz slider, found some setting on boogie forum and those was intended to sound like whitesnake, but i don't know, try them and judge for yourself.
btw these are less scooped than my other mesa profiles so maybe these will suit you better if you think my others are to scooped ;)

    Enjoy

  • Thanks thumas!! will try them later one ! its sweet that you found those settings!!! i am curious now !

BTW.: tried as well your soldano profiles, and they are too top notch . Even i am more of a blues rock pal, i like to headbang too :D . Nevertheless i recall that Warren Waynes, And Gary moore played some soldano too, and Carlos santana played mesa boogie, have you ever tried to profile similar style settings? Just curious here .

Thanks again for the share ! i am organizing your profiles with all your notes, as they are really great gems ! :D

  • your soldano ones sound words better than the TAF ones i bought. Im a biug boogie fan too, i must profile my 4, when i get chance i need to go throiugh your notes from here and arrange them! Have you ever tried non scooped GEQ settings? I love my 4 like that and turns out LOG use it somewhat similarly too?I usually keep 80 and 6600 mid way, 750 above the bottom line or maybe a touch higher and then boost 240 and 2200. When i recorded my amp for my album in the studio the producer got me to revert back to more typical JP style EQ but i still enjoy the sound of these settings

  • Glad you like the soldano to..

Often it seems that i scoop 750hz.. but usually have it bottom line or just over it, maybe should try a little higher.
I can test your suggested eq settings next time i'm profiling, probably take a few days.
How do you usually have your knob eq?

Really want to try a good mkiv profile, looking forwards for yours.

    Edit
Maybe you could input your settings here and show me.

  • Wow. I just read your thread about the Soldano with new profiles and commented on their how much I have been liking the Soldano and Red Stripe profiles. Then I see this thread and you give us more profiles! What a day, more great sounding profiles and opening day of NFL Football!

The Kemper Profiling Amp is the best musical invention since the Electric Guitar and the Marshall Amp .
