I´ve done some preamp profiles, Chandler, Universal Audio, Mindprint....
Search the rig exchange for the author "r.u.sirius" und then look for the profiles that start with "PRE_"
I just plug the mic into the guitar slot.... works fine, great for vintage sounding tones and ruff stuff..
I think the problem here is that you can't send phantom power to condeser microphones... but a shure sm58 will work fine for my hardcore purposes hehehe

It's a power supply, dude. It either works or it doesn't. Especially when the max wattage is under 0.5W.
That's like saying you need a replacement power cable for the KPA because the standard one is cheap.
yup, but you connect your mic in there, maybe the noise level goes up, hum, noise? or it's like a true bypass and only sends the voltage? heheh and yes CABLES are important too hehehe you can connect your guitar with a 3$ cable or with a 80$ there is a huge difference!!

Actually, that's a good point.
It is definitely true bypass, phantom power just transmits power over the XLR pins, but it could induce noise.
That said, you could always lift the ground and let the KPA handle the noise. Pretty sure that would solve it.

And just had a look through all your stuff and what a badass collection of profiles you have sir. Amazing preamps (still can't believe it ) and also top notch amps and cabs you have profiled. I'll download all your stuff and test it through the week.
Let me ask you, have you A/B'd the preamps when you profiled them? Does it work? And you remember the settings of the Chanlder and the UA?
I did the preamp profiles with a guitar-direct-to-desk sound in mind. I did two profiles of every preamp, one with relatively straight gain and one with more gain. No compression or EQ was used.
You can add a cab to the profiles or increase the gain and you´ll get some nice clean to dirty tones.
Using the profiles for recording vocals was not my intention. For this purpose I use the preamps

r u sirius, I never thought about trying these, I guess I don't understand really how the profiled preamp is in the signal chain if its not in the cab? And if its in the amp section, how do you add an actual amp and cab to this profile? i really like the idea of trying this now though.

These contain a whole signal chain and you cannot really add an amp to it.
These are more suited for some classical direct-to-desk guitar sounds of the 70’s and 80’s.
Or for other sound sources as vocals or bass guitars.

the profiling chain was KPA -> preamp -> KPA, so there
was no speaker involved. But feel free to try some of your
favorite cabs, you might be surprised....pleasantly or not
