Has anyone been able to get sounds out of the effects that sound something like a Lovetone Big Cheese pedal or a ZVEX fuzz factory? That sort of rubbery, sputtery, about to die horn like sound with the really nasty decay?

No on the fuzz factory front, it's so unique and unpredictable that I think a digital recreation would be difficult(not saying impossible)- I am currently still using my fuzz factory pedal and fuzz factory guitars with the Kemper currently.

there are ways to get that kind of gated, messed up fuzz sound.
Bit Shaper (4.7 Drive, +5 Tone, 0.0 Volume) and Wah Rate Reducer (4.9 Manual, 4.2 Peak, Pedal off, Mix 30%) before Fuzz.
or a Hard Shaper/Wave Shaper + Fuzz combination (you might have to take some high frequency content away with a Low Pass filter Manual between 8.5 and 9.5, Peak 0, Volume -2.5)
the combinations are endless!
