I got it sorted out. I had to go back and reload the rigs onto the hard drive again and then onto the new computer. Not sire why, but in any case it worked

I also tried going into the File tab in RM and importing rigs/backup. It did import one stray rig I had, but it won't let me import the backup folder. It is like the folder is empty..

HI all,
I just bought a new laptop and can't seem to import my content into RM. I have an external WD hard drive that I have backed up all of my rigs and performances on. I un-zipped the folder and tried to drag and drop the file into my local library. It tells me that one or more of the files are corrupted etc...
I can't seem to figure out what the heck I'm doing wrong!
Any help would be appreciated

- Use the Monitor Output and connect it to your cabinet on stage.

This means: Your complete profile will be used for the Main Output, the cabinet get's the same profile but without the cabinet section.
this is what I did the last time I played live. It sounded good. But afterwards i read on the web that a real cab/power amp setup sounds best with direct profiles. I haven’t actually tried this setup yet.
if I use a merged profile in the manner you described above will the Kemper automatically know to send the studio profile to the mains and the direct profile to the monitor send? (I understand about checking the “cab off” box in the output section. This is how I currently have it set up.)Or should I send the cab signal out the direct out Jack? Does this still require the cab off box to be checked?
I saw in the manual a setup using the direct out, so it’s a little unclear as to what the best method is.

You will get the best results with "merged Profiles", but also "studio profiles" can sound great.
If you have a "direct Profile" only, you can add a cabinet. Click and hold the white Cabinet button then use the Browse dial to cycle through the cabs of your KPA (or use the Rig Manager for this. You can also do this with any other profiles or course.

P.S.: What profiler do you use? If you don't have a version with the built in power amp ("unpowered") you need a power amp between your profiler and your cabinet.

I have a Splawn 1x12 cab (small block speaker) that i want o use as a "real cab" for onstage. I also want to run a xlr to FOH from a Kemper Stage.
I'm powering the Splawn with a Freyette LXII. It has recently been made aware to me that I should be using direct profiles with the real cab.
so...
How do I take an existing studio profile and make it so that I can feed just the direct profile to the cab and that whole studio profile to FOH?
And conversely, how would I make an existing direct profile and make it so it is a studio profile for FOH as well?
Is what I am describing what a merged profile is...one that contains both studio and direct profiles?
Do I need to use the Direct output from the Stage to the real cabinet and the mains out to FOH to achieve what I am trying to do?

Also, I just read in the Kemper manual that when running one cab, the output should be set to master mono, I have it set to stereo which would be used when running 2 cabs.

I just went and plugged into channel B of the Freyette and switched it over to Stereo. I might be onto something here. Seemed to sound better to me. Unfortunately I have to go to work now so I can’t really experiment until I get home tonight.

On page 6 of the output section the “pure cabinet” box is ticked…should that be off?
Also the “internal” banner is lit. I have no idea what that is/does.

Mira tough to describe, it I feel like what is going on is less of an eq issue and more of a signal chain issue. I wish I could be more descriptive… -

assuming all connections are correct I would start with the presence and depth controls on the Fryette. After that I would move to the Stage Monitor Out EQ.
If it sounds good through the PA wouldn’t touch the Amp Block or Cabinet block settings as these will also affect FOH and you A/I.
If it doesn’t sound good through the PA then I suspect that you are playing much louder than you do at home through your computer and you have tweaked your sounds for the lower volume levels which would typically sound much more scooped when you turn up to gig level.
Another thought would be to try raising the mids to give it body rather than trying to kill the highs.
Another thought would be to check how things really sound in your room where you are hooked up to you A/I. If the room/speaker placement/etc has some issues it could be causing you to tweak tones to compensate but these may not translate well to other locations without the same isuues. -
I am running out the right monitor send into the mono/bridged input of the freyette’s channel A. Maybe that has something to do with it? Channel B of the Freyette does not have the bridged option?

Do you have the Freyette LXII connected to one of the Monitor Outputs?
Don't connect the Main Outputs (XLR or 1/4") to the Freyette LXII.

I have adjusted the eq settings. In some cases I have brought the treble all the way down to -5.0 (the max reduction) and it was still bright.
when plugged into the PA, I used XLR out to the board, so can sims are automatically on by default…correct? And I have the high cut setting down to around -7000 +\-I haven’t tried the definition/clarity control but it just seems odd that I would now need to go in and adjust this for every profile that I want to use…

First thoughts,
bring the presence eq down.
In the amp module adjust definition and clarity.
With the PA I assume cab is on? Cabinet module bring down the high shift.
Theres EQ and a high cut on the main output menu too that will cover all your rigs.
And of course your guitars tone pot ? -
Just for info sake, I have the monitor cab box checked (so it’s off) as well as the Kone section turned off.

When I hook up my Stage to a real cab the tone I’m getting is almost painfully bright. I tried it through 2 different cabs (2x12 & 1x12) as well as my PA system.
when I hook it up to my A/I and through my computer and into the studio monitors it sounds killer.
The basic tone isn’t horrible, I just can’t warm it up.
I’m sending the stage out to a Freyette LXII and then into the cab.
I feel like the problem is not because the speaker or amp coloration or anything like that. I have the suspicion that I have some setting wrong.
I can’t seem to get some pics I took to upload. It’s telling me the file is too big.
If someone can tell me how to upload a pic, I’ll be happy to post them. -

I’ve ordered a Weber beam blocker, which I have installed in another cabinet and really helps.More….
In the output section, are all of those settings global? IOW, I should use those settings to shape the overall tone that comes out of the cabinet. And the individual profiles should still be tweaked from the amplifier section?

that's not surprising at all.
MAIN OUTS (with CABINET simulation on) -> power amp -> guitar speaker
MONITOR OUT (no CABINET simulation) -> power amp - guitar speaker
in the MAIN OUTS scenario, you are running a speaker simulation into a real speaker
make sure you position the cabinet as you normally would. guitar speakers sound very harsh in the 'beam' and lose a lot of high end if you move off-axis. Most 1x12 Speakers aim at your knees, really.
but you are effectively comparing whatever speaker was profiled against what you use in your cabinet (IF you are running MAIN OUTS over PA speakers and MONITOR OUT over your cab) so there always will be quite distinct differences. The influence a speaker makes is huge.
What was said earlier about the cab sim making a profile sound dull….it did just dawn on me that the mains out to the real cab had much less sparkle….
